So I decided to load up a few today screen apps because I got tired of the stock look (I only have Memmaid installed on my device). What a mistake. I installed Weatherpanel and Quick Menu to start and then it got really buggy. Fonts during a call were fuzzy and the phone number was oddly shaped. Quick Menu showed fuzzy images next to the program name. Then I could not uninstall it off my device. The round Windows wheel would not end. For some reason ActiveSync worked for once and I uninstalled it from there.

So I decided to start fresh with a hard reset. Now when I disconnect from the wall charger the red LED stays lit for a few minutes before it goes out. Doesn't happen everytime. I had my 3 lines flagged for the latest PRL. Two lines updated fine the 800 will not.

I have never complained about battery life on this device (first 2 were horrid) but some reason after installing Weatherpanel the battery got real hot and now the battery isn't performing like it had before.

ActiveSync still hit or miss. I am losing patience again with this device. I really want to like it and I have no desire for the Touch Pro.

    1. Do I have to update the PRL manually?
    2. Anyone have issues with the LED staying on after it's disconnected?

I had that issue with WP once after a restore... removed WP and reinstalled and it was fine. Had something to do with the updating, it just couldn't get through it and was running constantly. Killed the battery and made it hot.

And I've also had the red light staying on issue intermittently. Usually only does it once, then not again for a month.

All I can say is I'm running both WP and QM, among a number of other things and it's working fine, but I started from a hard reset and installed everything fresh without any restore. PITA but worth it. Since then, the phone has been fairly stable. Still has its minor issues, but nothing I can't deal with.

Well after reading the HTC Touch Pro bug list thread (yes already, like 7 pages) on sprintusers it looks like I will be keeping the 800. Earpiece audio quality is the number one complaint (one said way worse than the 800).

I am not installing any Apps other then Memmaid at this point. It runs very snappy and smooth. Ideas about the LED and PRL update?

The messed up font is something WP does when you install it. You have tp delete the culprits.

    1) Call *2, and that may get your PRL going
    2) Get the Charger Patch from Palm's website. Also, if the Red Light is on, turn the phone, the tun it off, that should flip the LED off for you.

It won't update from *2 TALK, that is the problem. The other two phones did it from there fine.

EDIT-I forgot to reinstall the Palm's charger patch after the hard reset. Doh. Nevermind, this one is fixed.

I can't delete the two files off of WeatherPanel. I get a "Problem deleting file BRADHITC."

Guess you are going to have be patient and wait for Sprint to push the PRL out. My old 700wx was the same way.

2 things for deleting the fonts, 1) Disengage WP from the Today screen 2) Check the font file's properties and make sure it is not locked or something or reset then try to delete.

I got the TFF files deleted from WeatherPanel but I had to do it from my laptop/A.S. Would not delete from the device for some reason.

The PRL is out (60614). When I press *2 Talk is tells me it recognizes the update and says it is completed but after a soft reset its still at 613. I can live with it. PPCGeeks has a tutorial on how to do it manually but I have not tried it.

The PRL thing must be a bug. Hmm.

Why not just update it manually? Incredibly simple.

It's on Palm's bug list. Maybe it gets fixed and maybe not. At least this one is pretty minor and easily circumnavigated.

I hate ActiveSync. Now it won't recognize the device. Says the USB connection cannot be established. Last night worked fine.

I've had this on my iPaq and 800W. Reset your 800w and it should recognize it. I agree, ActiveSync is getting worse about its connections. We have quite of few iPaqs for data capture/analysis and we are always trying to keep ActiveSync connecting.

    Still a no go.

    Time for another hard reset?

Seems that I can send but not receive. I installed Phone Alarm 1.67 Lite and now the backlight settings won't stick. I have them all set at 1minute. They revert back to 5, 5 and 10 minutes.

My contract is up December 1st. I may have to negotiate a free Touch Pro if this keeps up. That device is really buggy too so maybe by then whoever can get an update out (Palm or HTC) first that will be the one I go with.
