Hopefully it's just a 4smartphone temporary issue. I used to use them, but haven't for a good while and honestly don't remember for sure. If I had to guess though I believe it synced immediately. I am using Exch Server 07 through work at the moment.

Yea, I know for sure it used to sync immediately.
I can still remember updating a contact and seeing those arrows begin spinning.
I'm anxious to see what results Sansnil has after he gets home.
    Just call me Berd.

    scollins and Sansnil,
which data plan are you on.
I used to be on the PDA plan for $40 that allowed me to use isp.
Now I'm on the $30 that only allows wap.
That's the only other thing besides moving to the Pro that has changed.

    Damn.

Well I believe I can confirm 100% this is a bug with at least my Treo Pro.

I fired up the old 750 and it does indeed immediately push changes to tasks/contacts/calendar items from the device to the server.

Using the exact same settings, same everything, my Treo Pro does not.

I even went so far as to perform a hard reset on my Pro just in case there was some strange settings issue but same results.

I wish a few others would chime in so we'd know if their Pro's are doing the same.

I actually don't know what data plan I'm on. I've had the same data plan for years now. It was the same one I had on my standard "flip style" phones then when I upgraded to Treo's I never changed my data plan. It's cheaper and I've never had an issue with not being able to do anything...
  6. #26
    Now I wonder what's with my 750.
Maybe I'll HR my 750 and see if that gets the insta-sync working again.

It's too bad my 750 is currently having the same issue, otherwise we'd, without a doubt, had verified this as a Pro only issue.

If only one more person with both the 750 and Pro, could chime in and confirm that it's Pro only.

For what it's worth I have the "PDA Personal Max" ATT plan.
I think it's device specific since my 750 works just fine on the same plan.
Arg. I wish I had more confidence in Palm fixing any of these major bugs quickly.

On your 750 do you have WM 6.0?
    I have a Custom 6.1 on my 750.

I'm going to Flash back to the Official 750 Rom and see if that gets my 750 syncing like it should.

I would automatically say it's a Pro specific issue if I wasn't also having it with my 750.

I have the stock ATT (bloatware) WM 6.1 ROM on my 750. It of course came with 6.0 and then I upgraded to 6.1 with the official ATT ROM update. Yea, your case is very interesting and I'm intrigued on what you see with going back to the official ROM. Perhaps WM 6.1 is a factor?

    Are you sure it's 6.1?
I thought the Treo came with 5.0 and then came out with a 6.0 update.
I don't remember an Official 6.1 ever being released.

Opps, Berd, sorry you are quite correct, that was the WM5 to WM6 update.

    Ok,
    guess what.
I flashed my 750 back to 6.0 and now all syncs just like it should.
The very second I edit an appointment (change time or date) it instantly triggers a OTA sync.
    Same with Existing Contacts.

Could this be a WM 6.1 issue?

We really need some more feedback from others.

Anyone else want to help us with this one.
This is most definitely a Bug.
The only question now is whose bug,
    Palm Pro or WM 6.1

    I'm leaning toward WM 6.1

    Just in case I didn't make it clear;
My 750 had a Custom 6.1 RWE (not att) and it had our sync issue same as Pro which is Official 6.1 RWE.
    (Rest of World English)
I then flashed back to WM 6.0 - ver 2.27 RWE.
    (not att)
    And now all syncs correctly.
I could flash to the Att 6.0 but there is no need, sansnil has already confirmed it works correctly.

What other devices come either factory released or Official upgrade with WM 6.1
This would help us narrow down if it's 6.1 or Pro specific.
  14. #34
I also have WM 6.0 that was offered as an update from ATT/Palm on my 750 and it syncs immediately.

    So, you're right ... Pro or 6.1 ?
Either way though the Treo Pro seems to have the problem (even if it's not it's fault).

    Anyone else?

    Wow, that's very, very interesting!

So the fault apparently lies with WM 6.1.
I don't think it would be the device then at all if your 750 also had the problem with 6.1.
Now to research if this was done on purpose as misguided 'feature'.

Hey Berd, do you happen to know if 4smartphone uses Exchange 2003 or 2007?

I'm getting a feeling this happens with WM6.1 and Exchange 2K3 only.

Ask if this happen on the device @next forum? You know, the Treo 800?

I was thinking the same thing. The 800 is also 6.1

I'm pretty sure the issue isn't server related. When you make an edit a request is made from the phone (spinning arrows) it's up to the server to accept it. Think about it, when you first setup active sync and you click finish the phone instantly starts activesync - it's looking for the server.
It will keep spinning trying to create a partnership. Once established, it begins to sync.
So the issue is from the device side. It's not even asking the server for a sync.
