Cosmetically-speaking, does your D-Pad center/"Palm" button look all scratched up?

I've noticed that on either side of the "l" in Palm it's dark black where the "powdered metal" has worn off, and some of the "powdered metal" look on the d-pad itself has worn down and become glossy chrome. It looks like the Dpad center button is actually black with some sort of metal paint on top. Don't see similar wear on other buttons, and have never seen this on my other Treos either.

I ask because I'm swapping out my unit for a new one (to hopefully fix the mushy headset sound) and will be using a case. Right now I have a hard rubber case on order, but it doesn't cover the dpad. Think I might want one that covers the dpad...

Mine is chipping away seemingly much faster than it did on my 650, 700P, and 755P. So far the wear is on the d-pad edge from 1 o'clock to around 4 o'clock.

OK then, off to ebay to order a cheap silicone skin that covers d-pad

My center is fine. It's the directional buttons that are worn out on mine...From 12-1 o'clock and from 2-4 o'clock. I always thought it was due to me putting the phone face down at times, since the D-pad is what protrudes the most and makes contact with the surface I put it on.

    No.
But I guess some wear is to be expected as much as I use the thing.

Same spot, noticed it about a month ago. Had the phone since the day it was released. Also losing the "chrome" near the stylus port from removing the stylus.

Yes! Mine got that way within a week to 10 days after I got it.

No problems with mine after 2 months. I carry it in my pocket with the buttons facing in.

You probably should have made a poll for this. I had mine since the day it was released, no wear anywhere so far. (no cases)

Infact, there isn't any damage at all even after countless drops onto hard floor.

after first week definatly the chrome chipped off. I blame my nails I guess.

My treo 700wx has minimal wear and it is 2 years old.

The bottom half of my center button is now black... makes it look old and cheap. It pisses me off every time I look at it.

My center button is fine, but my directional from 12 o'clock to 9 is wearing off quick.

Good idea, done. You can choose multiple answers. I've had mine since nearly day 1 and it's simply trashed...
