I just got the Pro and my Plantronics 510 is dying. I'm considering a new headset and have narrowed my choices down to the Plantronics 925, Jabra 530, Joby Zivio, and BlueAnt z9i. I had the first Jawbone and might be willing to consider either it or the JB2 depending on comments.

Has anyone tried one or more of these specifically with the Treo Pro? How do they work in general and how do they work in specific with Voice Command?

    +1

    Paired falwlessley, works flawlessly.

Also paired a Jabra BT520 with no issues.

BUG #1: When the bluetooth headset is on an active call and another call comes in via call waiting and you let that call go to voicemail you will no longer hear the caller, but the caller can hear you. To hear the caller again on the bluetooth headset you must turn off/on handsfree as a workaround (very annoying). Otherwise, you can disable call waiting until this bug is fixed or simply use the handset. Or lastly hit the IGNORE button for all call waiting incoming calls.

BUG #2: When you answer a second call via call waiting with the bluetooth headset active and you end one of the calls the other caller is dropped.

I received my Palm Treo Pro on 9/26 and immediately noticed these flaws. I have a ticket open with Palm. I've tried Jawbone I, Jawbone II, Motorola, Plantonics, and Land Rover bluetooth with the same drop call behavior.

Palms response was that they are releasing a list of compatible bluetooth headsets and to call back within a week or two.

If anyone finds the fix please share ASAP.

I just finished reviewing the Jabra 530 and it should be up shortly and I found it to be a really good headset.

The Z9i is another good headset and I'd give a slight edge to the Jabra. The Plantronics was just uncomfortable and in hindsight, I didn't like the charging case.

Check out our Bluetooth reviews at http://www.wmexperts.com/reviews/bluetooth_headsets/

FWIW, of these three choices, I'd go with the Jabra.

So how is the status? Shall we all call Palm again? Any patch or recall solution? Which headset to buy?

I called palm tech support and it was a waste of time. Rep just said she would make note of the problem.

I asked if it was been reported? Is palm aware?? No clue.

    I love my Jabra BT8040...

    1. It's tiny. I carry it in my pocket whenever I go out.

    2. It uses a micro-USB charger - same as out Pro's so I get spare charger for free for each device. :-)

    3. Works with Voice Command on the Pro.

    4. BEST OF ALL - It has A2DP so it functions as a high quality mono headset and can recieve all Treo Pro sounds. Why listen to one ear mono from a stereo device? YouTube, streaming talk radio, games played discreetly anywhere, Slingbox in public places, etc. Even playing mp3's as discreet background music for yourself is kind of fun.

Most of the things I mess around with multi-media wise aren't high quality sound so it's perfect for that. I do have a Moto S9 headset for high quality mp3 play.

It's not real cheap at around $75 or so, but I love mine.

I have to ask if you are having any dropped call issues with call waiting when using BT? Do you loose the first call after hanging up on the second?
    Thanks

Haven't had a call and another call coming in on BT yet. I expect it would be the same as all the others. i don't think this is a headset problem, it's a device problem. Plam will fix it with a patch/firmware update - the price of being an early adopter.

I don't get enough really important calls to care too much about this bug - now Slingbox not looking right - there's a crucial problem from my perspective!

I am having a problem with my blue tooth headset. I have a Jaybird A2DP stereo bluetooth headset and last night, it paired up perfectly with the Treo Pro and played music wonderfully. Today, I have the headset turned on, the Treo Pro has bluetooth on and nothing I do will cause any music to come of the headpiece. Does anyone have an idea what I am doing wrong? I'm so frustrated. I've searched Palm and Windows for solutions and can't find anything. Thanks so much!

I would soft reset obviously and try again. Delete phone/headset pairing, re-pair, and try again. Try your headset with a friend's phone or your phone with another headset to validate each. Not sure what else to try if that doesn't show where the problem is.

    Good luck...

When your headest is paired with your Pro, shouldn't there be some indication on the screen?

My old 650 would 'wake up' when I paired, and the BT icon would change (though that was a bit hit-and-miss) and the BB Bold I tried had a headset icon appear with the connection icons on the top row.

But with my Pro, I get no confirmation I have paired it at all. Is there any setting I have missed, surely there should be something?
