Anything Wifi/3G on the TP is a major battery drain. I find the TP battery life not much better than the Treo 680 with the stock battery.

Try to call a few different uses on your address list. I tried mine, it was very loud tried with 3G and Wifi. My only problem is that BlueTooth headset does not work with Skype - it is an issue with Skype - it was confirmed by Skype. I am waiting for fixes...

My experience so far is the call quality is not very good on Wifi. Using the same DSL connection on the Desktop it is better.

I've just installed it and it gives me an error on start up:

Couldn't find all the necessary files to start Skype. Please install again.

I've installed it 3 times now and still get the error. Can anyone help?

Are you sure you're running the latest version from Skype (and the PowerPC version, not the smartphone one)?

I just put Skype for Windows Mobile on my Pro and it works pretty well on my T-Mobile 3G connection, maybe a 1/2 second delay, but it was clear. When I hookup to my home Wifi, it's just like using Skype on my computer. I'll defiantly use it for some outgoing calls to save minutes, that's for sure.

The other party hears echos - this is eliminated if one uses the earphones

Yup! That was the first thing I figured out.

I, too, can vouch for the WM version of Skype on the Treo Pro. Was down in Mexico last week, tapped into the free hotel wifi, plugged in the earphone, launched Skype, checked voicemail, and made a few necessary phone calls. Works for me!!

You mean use the earplugs for music thru the 3.5mm jack?

Then speak to the mic at the bottom of the Pro?
    Dell x51v → Motorola Q (Verizon) → Mogul → 800w → Treo Pro → Touch Pro 2 (SERO) → HTC EVO 3D → HTC EVO 4G LTE → HTC One S → Nexus 4

I use a single earphone (3.5 jack) with an inline microphone. Seems to work very well.

I decided to get one specially for Skype. Got one cheap ($3) which seems to do the job.

I use it with my Jabra BT8040 and it stays in A2DP mode which doesn't use the mic on the headset so I have to talk into the Treo, but it works fine like that.

There was a discussion on the 800w forum that claims you can use a regular bluetooth headset with a BTAudio toggle app to get full mic and speaker functionality through your bluetooth device.
