Is there any chance that there will be a Treo 850 for sprint.
  2. #2
Near zero. Sprint is CDMA and the 850 is a GSM device. The 800 is the CDMA equivalent of the 850. If the 850 is very successful, you might see the general design and appearance ported over the CDMA devices, as the look of the 750 made its way into CDMA world in the form of the 755 devices. But it will surely be a good while, if ever, before any device that resembles the 850 makes it to any of the CDMA carriers.

well thats very disappointing because i love the looks of the 850. So someone better get going on making a CDMA equivalent for sprint. i was not very impressed be the design of the 800. I guess i always could buy the 800 and pray that someone gets around to making a CDMA 850.

    Thanks.

Personally I don't even care how it looks, but the battery is nearly 1.5x the 800w's battery, that's the big difference as far as I'm concerned.

They got the Centro first, which is doing quite well for Sprint.

Palm has gotta let some of the other carriers get exclusives on their new great hardware.

I said earlier that by the time Sprint releases the 850w for CDMA, we will be on Android versions of the smartphones and or the Palm OS II will be out in a similar form factor as the Treo Pro, Sprint users of CDMA have lossed big time on this phone. I guess it will hurt sales on the 800W once Sprint users will hold off. I I had seen the Treo Pro, I would not have purchased the 3 800W that I did but I have returned two of them!

If the Treo Pro is very popular, anything is possible.

The original Touch launched in early June, GSM only.

By October we had the CDMA, much improved version on Sprint. That was a very fast and unexpected turnaround.

But I wouldn't suggest that this is or is not happening.

Sprint just got the 800w. I fully expect it to be a full year before it gets refreshed.

The 800 is the CDMA version. The 850 (Pro) is the GSM version. This is just the first time the two have been so widely different in form factor.

I wouldn't say wildly different, they're basically the same form factor. Except one is more aesthetically pleasing.

Remind anyone of the 700wx and 750v?

I'd say the inclusion of a dedicaged audio jack is wildly different. It is, after all, the major disappointment of the 800w (not counting that piece of plastic crap stylus.)

Careful - post #13 said "widely", not "wildly", so you've mis-quoted that word twice now

As do you for replying to my post

Yes, years from now, I'll deeply regret the 20 seconds I spent on that post.
