Has anybody been able to figure out why the Treo is not ringing on incoming on phone calls yet? I so want to like this phone but every time I look down I would have missed 3 calls and the phone just didn't ring.... its very frustrating...

I do not think this mystery is solved yet. Sometime it rings and sometimes it does not. I have found out that TCPMP might mess up sounds and ringers.

This am I was extremely p...d. My alarm on 800w did not work. Once I clcik on it, it showed that I missed 2 alarms and beeped at that time

I noticed the same problem today. Came home to a very upset wife who was trying to reach me. Why is this happening?

An application called AlarmFixWM addresses this situation to a degree.

my "missed" calls arent even finding their way to the phone. The caller later tells me it just rang and then went to voicemail.

The calls dont show up in the call log. I reeeeaaaaaalllly like this phone but this may prove to be a deal breaker for me

we had this happening with one that had no third party software at all. Returned it at store a few days ago. Store gave us new in box letting us keep other units accessories. You would not be the first to get one replaced for this, they know about it.

Definitely a software bug that Palm needs to work out. Hopefully we'll see a patch soon.

When I bought the 800w and got it home, it was not riniging at all.

Called Sprint and there was something wrong with the account. The rep told me that the old phone was somehow still associated. The rep fix it and I've not had any problems in over a month.

Mine started doing this yesterday, no calls coming to the phone. Also don't get voicemail or text notifications unless I call voicemail. Then they pop up.

The Sprint tech support tried hard to fix it over the phone but wasn't able to. They sent me to a Radio Shack to get it replaced yet they don't even do that. By time I got to the Sprint store, that tech support said didn't do repairs, it was past their time for doing repairs. Wanted me to leave it overnight.

Does anyone know if a hard reset can fix this? I've not done one on this phone.

I've had these symptoms, not hearing the ringer, directly to VM, no texts, etc. I could make calls though. The radio was toast. A hard reset did not work for me. This is the first step though, give it a shot before going to the Sprint store because they will do it there anyway. I got a replacement.

Oh well, the hard reset didn't make any difference. Back to the store tomorrow. At least I know the backup software works to restore my data for the most part.

Another thing I noticed though was that my last backup was the night before the incoming calls quit working which was two days ago at least. Don't know why they'd be connected.

This issue is about the only thing that is a "real issue."

I was a bit surprised to see the last thread dealing with this issue "die" while the gps threads continued.

I know that hannip eventually contacted palm support on their forums and requested that they look into this issue.

    http://forums.palm.com/palm/board/me....id=4375#M4375

Oddly enough, no palm tech answered that thread....

If you look at this thread: http://forums.palm.com/palm/board/me...hread.id=34132

It may be that we will be waiting for an update (although that thread is for a centro).

No one ever found a solution in the last thread, outside of having two devices turned on at one time may confuse the system.

I am not sure how the voice / data work on Sprint. When using GPRS this problem occurred because the voice & data do not work simultaneously. When my email is syncing, all calls are dropped to vociemail. It is fixed when I switch to 3G.

I'd seen Hannip's post on there but not the Centro one, thanks for that.

Maybe I should try Palm tech support before I take it back. I have the same exact symptoms as the Centro owner. Of course if they don't have an update it won't do any good.

It will be interesting to see if palm will address this issue or if this is a sprint network issue. I had also noticed that some of the people who complained had attempted hacks to their devices in other threads. Not saying that would be the cause, or if the two phones on at one time or if it is truly something wrong with the phone.

Time will tell. As more people get the phone, and if the issue is major, then more will complain. But it is strange when more people complain of a gps issue than a phone not receiving calls or text messages... or maybe people don't know this is happening to them... interesting say the least.

There is some hope since palm has already released two updates for the 800... if palm has finally "got it" on updates, then this "might" be fixed in a timely manner, if this is an issue at all.

Well Palm Support was not help. I mentioned the Centro fix and this was the response.

Anthony>Well, as of now this is not a major call driver for us with Treo 800w

Back to the store for me.

Well "back to the store" is a good choice since receiving calls is obviously important.

I learned from palm with the PalmOne TX to not expect palm to release an update. If the palm product is not perfect, I'd not hold my breath waiting on an update. I've been waiting on the BT update for the TX for almost three years now.

Figure I'll test my 800 then send it back for a Q9c if it does not work out. If the Q9c does not work, I may break down and get a "regular" phone from ebay until Windows 7 is released or Microsoft introduces a major update for windows 6.x like they did for the treo 700wx to make it stable. I can't go back to my 700wx since it was basically dying on me when it was replaced.

So far it seems that Palm is trying to put out updates for the 800w. Two important ones already released. I couldn't wait for a fix to this one so I just got the phone swapped out.

Nice that between the Sprite backup and Activesync my data and the apps I installed were restored. Just had trouble pairing my bluetooth headset again but eventually that worked as well.
