I was just in discussion with a friend who is privy to many inside tracks within the cell phone industry and he shared with me that Verizon has decided not to carry the 800w because it couldn't come to an agreement with Palm. What does this mean for Palm and the 800w? If obviously the 850 is coming out for GSM, and Sprint is the only one carrying the 800w, how long will they support the 800w?

Check this thread for the exact same rumors.

Until their next device is released. Sprint isn't the only CDMA carrier, and even IF they were they only ones to carry it, it's still a fairly decent sized market.

What is the agreement with Palm about?

You know that Palm does not update their model often.

Probably regarding price, commission for verizon, terms of payment etc. You know how it is. Or maybe on what features to be disabled or limited functionality. Or the device colour is a few percentage less yellow & too much red. Who knows. If the rumour is true, all that will be announced is "Verizon will not carry Treo 800w because it did not pass the strict Verizon testing."
