Holy **** okashira. Where the hell are you that you are getting those speeds?
Mine seem capped at 500kbps no matter what.

The problem with the Rev A checkbox checked is that GPS stops working. WTH@?!?!?

PROOF!! Rev. A Checkbox Makes A Difference

    Yes, it does...

    Enabled...
    - GPS stops working
    - Calls goes straight to VM
    - No SMS messages and maybe no emails received.

I have my Rev. A box checked and have been getting voice calls and SMS with no problems and my GPS is working fine, I just used it to look up Taco Bell for s***s and giggles... ;-)

Okay.. just tried a new sequence and now my Rev A box is checked and GPS works as well..

    1) Check Rev A box
    2) Tried GPS.. doesn't work..
    3) Soft Reset using the SoftReset app.
    4) Upon boot up Rev A box is checked and GPS works!

    WEIRD!

I had this problem with it set to force broadband. Changed it one day, and then changed it back to automatic, and all of the sudden text messages were coming in. What ever the case was, I was NOT getting them, until I changed it.

I have the box checked, but I dont want to uncheck it if it screws it up

I have seen the same problem with checking this box. I checked mine and now the GPS does not work. Also all calls that came in during that time went to VM. I reset is using a softreset program and nothing changed, I unchecked the box and got it all working agian. I think the speeds are still as fast as they used to be. What do I need to do to get it enabled if it true that checking and unchecking disables it????? Slightly concerned now

I haven't had any problems since checking mine on the first day that I can tell, but do we have a verdict on whether or not this does any damage to the phone? I did a hard reset of the device just to see if it would revert back but it does not. Once the box is checked its checked for good unless you manually uncheck it.

Count me in the group with issues. Box checked, nothing works. I've tried everything posted in this forum and nada. I gave up on it and find I get fast speeds with Opera Mini (1600 - 1800 at best, compared to 90-120 with PIE at worst) without the box in a non-Rev A area (also seems to be faster at night and off peak??). I do want to be able to use it eventually, so hopefully all of this discussion will lead somewhere.

As mentioned earlier in this section, keeping "automatic" highlighted after checking the box and saving seems to be the key to making this work. I had the problems of nothing working and went back and left auto highlighted and it all works. I have used maps gps, livesearch gps, and google gps all without problems.

The one thing that I am not sure if it is related to this or not is when my phone stops EVDO or loses the signal and has to reconnect it many times needs a soft reset to make and receive calls as well as connect to the Internet. Not sure what causes this any suggestions?

No issues. I beleive I am getting better performance as well but have not really drilled down into it.

So I was getting full revA speed originally without the box checked. I enabled the box, no change. After disabling the box, im now getting reduced speeds.

now I wish I hadnt messed with it.

enabled again, getting my original good speeds.

    Update.

Hard reset the phone, RevA checkbox remained off.

    Speedtests were all in the
1700/110/200 download/upload/ping range, indicating that RevA was NOT working after hard reset and no reva box.

This could still be refletive of the fact that a hard reset does not erase and reset all data (specifically data setting/provisioning data etc...)

I will be transferring service to another 800w I have here that I have yet to mess with the box and will test for RevA performance without messing with the box.

In the meantime, does anyone know a ## code to enable a true reset of the phone (one that erases all of the phone provisioning data, etc...) to see if that would get RevA working again without the box checked?

BTW, I have rechecked the box, and check out the speedtest result I get on my desktop (which has all all high end hardware)

The Rev A setting I *BELIEVE* is stored in the NV portion of the device/ROM. You can reset this by doing ##RTN# and resetting (this also does a hard reset). You will need your MSL. Note that you will need to reprovision your phone after this.

Thanks, exactly what I was looking for.

What's the easiest way to get my MSL?
I tried the MSL generator for WM, worked on my mogul, not on the 800w.
    Tried searching, nothing.

Still running with RevA checked with no noticed issues, can still get calls, etc.

    Call Sprint.

The 800w uses the MSID instead of the ESN for activation purposes. I believe you can find your ESN in Phone -> About.

The MSID will not work in the MSL generators.

Speed tests on newly activated phone. RevA box off. Never checked.
All tests are indicitive of RevA working.

    My conclusion...
RevA works fine without messing with the RevA checkbox. Just don't mess with it. Recommend reprovisioning phone if you have. (follow ebag's instructions above)

For every post saying "check the Rev A Box" there is another saying "DONT check the Rev A Box". So which is it? I already switched mine early on. I am not experiencing a lot of the issues others are claiming but I am still wondering if I'm better off "undo-ing" it. Whats the verdict?

I've had my Rev A box checked for weeks. It does not cause any problems. If you push the down arrow to get to the check box, you will inadvertently change the phone from automatic to something else which is likely causing the majority of people's problems.

Some of us (well me anyway) have tried doing it in a manner that does not highlight that other entry and it still screws with us....
