Its been more than a month that this phone has been out... and most of us may have tried to use this phone as modem using the registry hacks mentioned in this post.

I am just curious, if some one can confirm "once again" that you have not been charged in the bill for tethering the phone...

I could not find a confirmed affirmation on the billing in this post...

    Please advise.

Confirmed. Just got my most recent bill and I have been doing it for 2 years.

That being said, if you abuse it and use several gigs of bandwidth a month then all bets are off.

P.S. Just so everyone knows, the first post in this thread now links to a cab file. Thank you!

Sprint Drops Phone as Modem Pricing to $15

Sources in Sprint are reporting that current plan holders are in for a discount. Sprint has dropped the price of Phone As Modem add-ons on new plans, to $15, down from the previous $40 per month.

This appears to only take effect on current offerings; Sprintís Simply Everything, Sprint Everything, and Everything Plus plans. The price drop appears to be part of an effort to lure customers over from older, grandfathered plans. Sprintís plans of today typically cost more, but by discounting PAM, it can make up for the difference.

In addition, this will finally enable the Samsung Instinct to support Phone As Modem tethering officially. Sprintís current plans have lacked a Phone As Modem add-on code until this week, and Instinct must be hacked to use Phone as Modem without a Phone as Modem plan.
    Thanks for that post....

Same here... but for 1.6 years with sprint...

I'd more than likely say to not use for nothing more than email or light web cruising... if you need more, pay for it. I normally use mine maybe one or two days a month for a total of a couple of hours.

I use pdanet though... great program....

I tried manually renaming\deleting the "extension" reg key and then installing the cab file and still got the dialing #777 loop before being refused. Renaming Last Cell Connection to Sprint PCS finally did the trick. Thanks.

Works beautifully - thanks to all who contributed! Very handy as a backup connection for when I'm mobile and don't have access to a "real" network and some crisis at work pops up. I'm a bit nervous on surprise charges too. A bad experience in the past with some .30/min charges...

I do notice now though, when I click the tower signal icon at the top, I see connections for:
Sprint (with a PAMish looking phone and computer icon)
Power Vision (Dial-up) with has a timer on ther going on the right.

Are those normal? I'm doing the push thing with Exchange during the day, so expect to see the power vision one. It's that Sprint one that makes me nervous...

No, charges on the bill. But, note I just used it before and after the install of the .cab file, each time for just a couple minutes of quick browsing the web. (The before was an accident.)

As far as I understand, you will get charged for data unless you have a phone as a modem plan.

I have been having issues with this regedit. Sometimes doesnt connect. Sometimes very slow. PDANET works way better for me.
