Has anyone tried out the new OM beta on the 800w? If so, how does it run?

I won't install it because I'm reading that it's dog slow.

Installed on mine, working great. I had 8.65 installed before, and this is much better/faster.

I can't get it to download properly to my 800w. I am trying to do it over the phone, not sure if that makes a difference. I can't download it to my desktop cause I'm using a mac.

    Am I doing something wrong?

My only issue was that it was slow. Right off the bat. The web pages didn't seem to load like they should.. Took over 30 secs to load Google. But IE and Opera mini work fine.

One thing I did notice was when i tried to zoom in with my thumb. The edge of my nail made Opera zoom in fine 99% of the time i tapped the screen. But when i used fingerprint part of my thumb i had a hard time getting opera to zoom in and out. So i guess it just easier to use your nail . (though I'm kind of fearful of scratching the screen at this point. Note to self: Use 2cent Stylus)

yah it is super slow loading engadget.com, but I have to say that when you zoom and then move around it is super fast to redraw, compared to skyfire.

Opera Mobile has always performed sluggishly for me, even when I had it on my 700wx. I tried 9.5 on the 800w and not only was it slow, but it also exhibited ODD display behavior when scrolling.

Is there an option to NOT have it as the default browser? Or does it overide PIE as default..?

Open Opera>Settings>Advanced>Uncheck Set Opera as default browser

Between sluggishness and the weird display bug when scrolling, I decided I'm better off with IE. Also, Opera didn't seem capable of really becoming my default browser. Shortcuts still opened in IE anyway.

The version that was stripped from the Touch Diamond is much faster than this beta, although Opera Mobile in itself is a slow app.

Could it have anything to do with the Treo's processor not being the fastest on the block?

So what is everyone using for browsers then? Are they using the old diamond beta? Skyfire? Opera Mini? What should we be using with the new 800w's speed.

I really want a internet experience on par with the diamond videos I have seen. Is that going to be possible?

Kept popping my phone in and out of phone mode, so I've uninstalled. Just waiting for a Skyfire invite or something else.
