The demo, taken from the ROM of a Treo 800w, proves that the 800w has fully working Direct 3D drivers.

Read one (of our many) stories on this:
    http://www.wmexperts.com/articles/ht...date_stil.html

Long story short: a lot of Qualcomm chips have the ability for more advanced graphics by enabling Direct3d drivers

Just like how some computers have "built in graphics" which are slow then you install your driver card (with drivers...this being the key part) and it's much faster...

A lot of popular HTC devices (most everything up to Diamond and Pro) have the chipset on board, but no drivers.

Why? (1) Cost--you have to pay Qualcomm to enable (2) Qualcomm's latest chips under perform in certain areas namely graphics. But that was unknown to HTC at the time...

So basically, what the OP is saying is at least one of the reasons why the 800w is so fast is because it's using these drivers, which means Palm didn't cheap out and thought this through...lol

If you're using standard File Explorer, you need to "Show all files" in the Menu. Then you can see the file.

Can I put this file and drivers on my blackberry? Sounds good

    Jk

Good to hear that palm didn't short change this part of the device.

That's great. I guess since it has that they had to cut back costs on the battery.

eh... a 4 polygon cube with gouraud shading is hardly a thing to get excited about..

    Especially given it's < 320x320 resolution scene..

They might be able to make iphoneish coverflow animation with it.. I said "might"

It's not the spinning cube people are excited about.

    It's the capability.

I understand, but I'm skeptical of the potential capabilities demonstrated by a primitive spinning cube.
