It really is. Obviously we are in the very early honeymoon stage but it has "a totally new but still a treo" kind of feel.

    Some initial thoughts;

    Small and light-

    Very sturdy

Nice deep blue color- nothing Centro, cheap or toy about it

Screen is nice- I understand the brightness concerns- but dont agree. It looks great and the 320x320 does provide more real estate when browsing the web, etc.

Call quality is good, not great IMO but no immedaite need for hacks or anything.

GPS works great- locks on fast in both the map application and live

The device feels snappy and fast. Internet browsing is substantially faster than the WX- scrolling huge web pages is a breeze.

I am still playing with it, but it is all that I hoped for at this point. Physically it is not the best looking device, this is not a wow your friends kind of phone- but for efficiency freaks that like to do things fast it is great.

    Thanks....

If you could, come back and talk about battery life... seems like some complained that the device would not last a full day on a charge... let us know the "real" deal.... or if that is the real deal... I can't imagine it is....

Any hard resets or lockups... outside of you installing programs that don't work.

    +2

For those worried about brightness, the phone brightness display setting is only 50% by default. Bump it up to 100% and it should be plenty bright.

I did have some issues with my 8GB SD card though. It was disconnecting from the device for some reason. But I think thats because I never inserted it in hard enough. We'll see.

Another thing that helps is enabling clear type as well, made a nice difference too.
Remember, this is my opinion ! We all have a right to our own.....

Overall this upgrade seems on par with the jump from the 600 to the 650. Substantial.

Also- I am recognizing how incredible the keyboard is. Sensational!

How do browsing speeds and keyboard comfort compare to the 755p?

    I get about 340 kbits/sec right now.

PIE is fast- surprisingly, even faster than OperaMini at the moment on most sites (?)

What kind of speeds are you averaging on dsl reports?

So far I hear ev-do rev A runs slightly faster than rev O, but the wifi web speeds are considerably faster than both. Would you say that's the case?

I agree fully. This thing is sweet. I have been using a Treo 755 on the weekends, and my Mogul during the week.. Gonna put them on ebay this weekend.. PM me if you are interested in one or both of them..

I am averaging about 700k on dsl reports. That is no better than evdo in my area. Latency is down though by at least 20ms- which is making browsing seem must snappier.

Ill give the battery a good workout tomorrow and report back on that front. Seems solid though.
