one think I've noticed in most pics on the net with the 700 next to the 800 is that the 800 shows more bars... hopefully that is a good sign (although, I know technically it does not mean much).

I am still deciding if it is enough to stop me from purchasing. It is a little bit thinner than the 700wx. It's quite a bit lighter as well.

I just expected it to be as thin as the Centro or maybe a little thinner since it's already wider and the Centro isn't exactly thin in the first place.
I actually had forgotten about a plate on the back of the phone(for my car holder).

It is pretty darn thin though. The 800 comes up and past a little, the top of the silver strip on the side of the 700.

Thanks for the effort - inside shot looks a lot like the Q9c. Really, I'd appreciate an outside shot of a red car; if the color stays the same . . .

Here's some shots from HTC products (darn though, if the Mogul didn't keep crashing . . .); I'm really hopin' that the Palm will come through.

Go to Settings, System, Power and you should see the Screen Saver tab on the bottom.

How did you get weatherpanel fonts to show up larger. Mine are showing up ultra small... even on the Large Font layout. Thanks.

Thought I would give my thoughts between the two in this thread to go with the pictures already posted.

I have used a 700p from Feb.o7 to June 07, could not take the lack of multitasking so I switched to the 700 WX in June 2007 and used it untill I bought a Touch in Augast 2007. Could not get used to no buttons and the constant lockups of the Touch so I switched back to a Treo and got an 800W Nov.22 2007.
First my likes of the 700 over the 800.

1, The 700WX has a more solid feel including the leyboard and keys than the 800W.
2, 700WX screen is 1/16" larger in each direction than the 800W, although the resolution is less at 240x240 vs 320x320.
3,Personally I would rather have the miner extra size of the 700WX to keep the full size SD card slot and larger 1800MAH battery, vs the Micro SD slot and smaller 1100 battery of the 800W.
    4. All metal stylus of the 700WX is far better than the flimsy, did I say flimsy stylus of the 800W.
    5. While most all complained about the palm connector on the 700WX, I have multiple chargers and head sets that will work, vs the 800w micro USB connector and NO headset jack!
    6. 700WX will turn off when you press the red end button, the 800W takes you to the today screen. You need to press again to shut off device.
    7. Text messageing on the 700WX is with the email app. The 800 you have to launch the message app. to text.

Now to what I like better about the 800W.

    1. WM6.1 has more features than WM5.0
    2. The 800W has wifi builtin.
    3. 320x320 resolution screen is better for web browsing and just plain clearer.
    4. Bluetooth seems to be more stable and better call quality on the 800W.

In summry if it were not for the 320x320 screen and the builtin wifi, I would stick to the 700wx.
Due to the work of some great forum members we can have WM6.1 on the 700WX. Not sure if that fixed the bluetooth problems or not?
Last I can still use my BT GPS receiver and get a SD wifi card for the 700WX.
I am having a hard time wanting to keep the 800, but the 320x320 screen may be the only reason..
Still waiting for Hitachi to reintroduce the G1000 with a VGA screen and more memory. I still miss that crash prone beauty.

There is a registry edit that will turn the 800w off when the red button is pressed instead of reverting to home screen. You can also use the built in wm6.1 text messaging app- look for hannips thread on beta testers text messaging. His script works perfectly- ignore the concerns that a few have early in the thread-just remember to take the palm sms app off your today screen before running the script.

Everyone will agree with you on the stylus and battery.

You know, I thought I was the only one, but I would gladly pay for a "normal" sized PPC screen with qwerty keyboard like the G1000 had. I hate landscape slider phones, but like the screens, and of-course love Treos. Basically someone should make a Treo 800w/Pro sized device except taller with a vga screen on it But considering you and I are the only ones that I've ever read about expressing interest, it's never going to happen lol.......

must be because we are both from the midwest. I am to your north in SD.

I even went so far as to ask Leo ard at pocket pc techs if he could put the guts of Treo in the body of the G1000, I could tell he was roling his eyes over the phone.

    +1000000

I hate having to chose between a square screen or a slider or screen-based keyboard. I think if they made the keys a tad shorter, reconfigured the other hard keys, and got rid of the border at the top of the phone they could do this without changing the form factor too much.

    Not too crazy about this...
