I assume this battery will be larger than OEM?

Will you have larger mah batteries that are the same size as OEM? What will the mah be on these?

    Thanks,
    Pat

There will never be a larger mah battery the same size as OEM. It's the same as the Centro battery and no one has been able to make an extended Centro battery.

    battery connectors?

Not that I'm aware...you should be able to swap in/out Centro batteries with no problems. The Centro/800w batteries do have different connectors from Treo batteries though.

When I get my 800w tomorrow, I'll throw in my Centro battery. But I know beta testers did this and it works, so I'm pretty confident...

    Either way, options are good.

Personally, I'd be find with less bump and a smaller battery (~1600mah).

Also, the Centro/800w standard batteries are mad think and small--carrying around an extra is not really an issue, imo.

This is Seidio's Palm Centro 2600mah battery w/door:

Thanks for that info... I'd not even looked into what the device would look like with a larger battery... does not look so hot IMO.

I'd guess a smaller battery would be a better solution... something that only has a slight hump in the back... but the pics may look worse than what it is really is...

Going to be interesting reading posts on the 800's battery life... so far I'm not convinced it is all that bad... some posts I'd question if the person is dumping on palm in general (one person I know is and he/she is aggravating to read in every thread)... some I'd question if they even have a 800w.

Like that with every launch though... hopefully we will start to see more battery reports from credible sources....

Wow, with the extended hump battery it really does look like the phone in this video.

Oh, I thought I read someone saying the connectors were in different places on the 800w vs the Centro. My mistake. Wonder why it says it's incompatible with the 800w then. hmm

It is very ironic that YOU would post directly after my post.

oh I know why that is now...

It can take the traditional Palm power adapter for the Treo series (and Centro).

A newer version will have the microUSB adapter built in instead

But...if you're like me with a bunch of old Treo power adapter laying around, it'll work just fine.

The last time I read similar threads, the 800w was not shipping with an extra battery. Is this still true?
  14. #94
Yeah it's still true that there is not an extra battery in the box. As a matter of fact there isnt much in there at all.

IMO the least Palm could have done was included some micro usb adapters for wired 2.5 or 3.5mm head sets the way HTC did with the Mogul & the Touch.

Don't complain about the lack of a reset hole. Palm received many complaints from users that they were using that feature too much. Removing the button is expected to reduce its use.

Hahaha! Yeah, I think that will definitely reduce its use alright.

How many of you are coming from the Touch? I'm wondering how the battery life is compared to that, which has an 1100 mah battery.
If God brought you to it He'll bring you thru it!

Are you certain? I have a Sedio "Extended" battery for my 700WX that's the same size as the regular battery with much more juice.

The touch was widely condemned for its battery life. The average is more important than a comparison to the the worst. Look at other qwerty handsets like BB Curve etc.
