Oh yeah, I second that question.
Technological superiority has never won a product battle. If that were the case we would all be flying in supersonic Concordes and using Apple computers.

The key to winning the battle is a combination of price, convenience, marketing, sound business model and a bit of luck.

Same as 700wx if not better. Almost... POS one handed-ness going on now that I think about it. Still touch the screen for certain things though. Closing out apps primarily.

One-handed ness is as good as always.

Tomorrow I hope to try Opera Mini and TomTom. I will also try to get some side-by-side tests showing the benefits of the 320x320 screen.

One precursor of trouble in paradise-Darth, maybe you can check this-

GPS at one location inside a building was BLOCKS off. GPS is one of the difference makers in this device and it better be good. Can Mogul or Touch owners w/ GPS enabled speak to this? Is the GPS useless indoors? Some locations come up fine but I don't like to be off by blocks on others. I'd rather have the phone not show me a location. Maybe I have to play with some settings to get it to work.

lol -- I'm not one of the lucky few who picked one up today, so no. It's first on my list, though.

That may be due to aGPS, and a poor triangulation... when you are outside, the REAL GPS takes over and basically gets your exact location within meters.

I have gotten an "Unable to get map" error 3 times now...

If you can test battery life that will make my weekend . I just want to know (your guess I hope) that skype and opera mobile beta 9.5 will be updated to work for Treo 800w in future? Also did you guys installed Styletap? Is it working properly?
thanks in advance for your help

Styletap is on my laptop at work... I'll get it tomorrow for you. I wasn't expecting to get this tonight.

Hopefully, if you're inside a building, you know where you are. I can see where this could be a problem if you are kidnapped, though. You wrestle a hand free from the ropes, blindly send your coordinates to the FBI, and then... bam! The Kidnap and Rescue team kicks in the door of a taco restaurant a few blocks away.

Belatedly, thanks for the great pics. Finally getting an understanding of this midnight blue color, and I'm thinking I dig it.

Thanks a lot. Not sure why but I am more excited than my wife who is watching 24 hours of TwitLive with Leo Laporte online (waiting for news about Iphone 3G). And I am here on treocentral reloading this thread . We both are psycho in our own worlds .

Correction had it here... Styletap is working and LOOKING great! Might have to go and reinstall some old school astraware games just to see how they work out for Styletap!

    Very nice.

    NO WAY!

That hasn't worked on the 6700 or the Mogul...

So I guess the 800w has a separate antenna for both wifi and bluetooth...?

    More misc notes-

The device is VERY light. even people who complained that it didn't LOOK much smaller were surprised at how much lighter it felt in the hand.

I will try Nyditot tomorrow to see if we can window 240x320 apps. Not sure if it'll work, but if it does, that might address many resolution compatibility issues.

I can't wait to see Palm apps in hi-res on a WM device. StyleTap is at the top of the to-do list.

Maps app crashes frequently (3x tonight) when it has problems getting a GPS lock. The app closes but does not bring down the OS.

Touch accs are not compatible with the microUSB connector. I thought someone said they would be. They don't appear to fit. Maybe the Touch used miniUSB.

Not too thrilled with battery life so far. I'm thinking of writing a MortScript app to turn on the GPS before running GPS-aware apps then turn it back off when closing those apps.

CtrlKeyPro was one of my favorite apps on the wx. Hope to see it work on the 800 w/ no issues.

If you're playing a radio stream through WMP (http://www.thestreamcenter.com/pda/) can you press the end button to turn off the screen and keyboard lights similar to the way an HTC device will let you do it by pressing the standby button to turn it off, or does it instantly kill the stream when you press the standby on the 800w like it does on the 700wx.

Pretty much my only 700wx pet peeve.

?? Then we can order a battery for the Centro and it will work in our 800's? I ordered 3 today, wife, son and self. Less than 150 a piece (not sure how Sprint works the math, I am a business customer. Also she stated that I did not have to get a SEP plan. That phone number is impressive where we ordered the phone today. Sprint is coming on gang busters!

As most of you know; I have really slammed Palm this year. But with the release of this phone maybe Palm can make a turn around. Sure a little disappointed that the form factor is not as slim as the 850 but with our old reliable keyboard I will be happy. It's not a Apple in design but sure looks better than the first pictures we got last year. A thumb's up for PALM. With release of Nova from Palm perhaps that will be a winner too? PAUL L, are you still monitoring the boards???
