Is there a way to manually start the syncing of the computer and phone. I purchased a aftermarket cable (rocketfish). It is supposed to double up as a charger and transfer cable. The cable itself does not have the sync button that is written in the user manual, so is there a manual way of doing this?

    Yes. Just plug it in.

The sync button is a leftover from Palm OS devices and is not used by WM devices at all. ActiveSync will start sync automatically as soon as you attach your device to the cable.

I'm not sure what software you have, but it's a free download from Microsoft, not Palm or AT&T.

You can get ActiveSync 4.5 here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...ivesync45.mspx

Once installed, ActiveSync should pop up when you connect your device to the sync cable.
