    This is a weird situation I am in. I have desktop PC (with outlook) with which I Activesync my treo for syncing calender and contacts and files and I have vista laptop with which I have done bluetooth Activesync to sync my files only and to access internet thru activesync connection wirelessly (to update weather info/I dont have a data plan). From last two-three days, for some reason, I was able to sync with my laptop, but not access internet over bluetooth. So couple of hours back, I was checking the ActiveSync options on my treo, and found that it was set for syncing contacts/calender/tasks/files with my latop (it used to be only files before) and if there is a conflict, then keep the items on my device. I ran the sync, and now I have no contacts, no calender, and no tasks. I cant understand if the option was set for keep the item on device, what went wrong?? Now I am afraid to sync with my pc, (where option is set to replace item on device if there is a conflict).. what if I sync and I loose all the contacts and data from PC too??
    Please help....

    First off, back up your contacts in Outlook, just in case. Just copy the contacts to a separate PST.

    Then I would delete the partnership with the Treo on that PC and set it up fresh. This should get all your contacts back on your phone after the first sync.

    If for some reason it does screw up, you can restore your contacts in outlook and resync. At that point it will definitely copy them to the Treo as it will see them as new additions since the first sync.

    Good luck.

    Thank you fastlerner for your guidance. Is File->Import and Export the way to copy contacts to different PST??

    Just another question to reassure myself that I have my contacts/tasks/calender backed up: In Outlook 2007, If I do this:
    File->Import and Export->Export to a file->Personal Folder File(.pst)->Personal Folders (selected with 'Include Subfolder' checked)->Finish

    then it will backup my contacts/calender/notes/tasks everything, right? Well I just want to make sure that my calender is backed up too before I do this..
    Thanks again..

    Yes. Just make sure to select your main mailbox and check all subfolders. It should include your calendar and everything.

    Thanks fastlerner, I backed all up and then updated one contact in outlook, just to make it last to be updated and decided to go with the sync without deleting the pairing first. and it worked. I have the data back, but I couldnt understand that in my sync option, what made the sync settings change. I never sync my contacts/calender/tasks with my laptop, and somehow these options became 'checked' under laptop, whereas I always synced the above three with my PC and these options became 'unchecked' under PC. Wonder what toggled these settings...
    But thanks fastlerner, you saved me today.
