[QUOTE=PDAholic;1444426]However, presuming that the 850 is similar in size to the Centro, and presuming the 800W is a thinner, antenna-free, skinnier version of the 700 series, I ask, "who else prefers the 800w?"QUOTE]

I think your presumption is off. I am confident that we are looking at the new 700 and 750s.

That's what I'm talkin' bout, Willis. That extra .3 inches actually makes a difference. And let's face it, size does matter. Even though I keep telling myself it doesn't. I mean, hey, as long as it still functions well, that's all that should really matter, right? Well, not by my PDA standards, and apparently not by the standards set forth in Cosmo magazine.

Well maybe it will only be 1/2 bad for you since it looks like the 850 will be between the size of a centro and a treo 700 but more towards the 700 size. It ain't bad, .18 bigger than a centro and .11 smaller than a 700.

That was a weak attempt, at best.

What you lack is the ability to comprehend the meaning of my post.

JPR: I hope you are right. I give you a for you and your Jesus avatar.

Surur: Let's just say that even if the new 800 series PDA comes out with a 2.3 inch screen, in my mind, it will be 2.5 inches...or perhaps bigger! Did I mention I live in a space-time distortion field wherein 6" is equivalent to 10"?

Okay, Theog, you are truly cunning.

And I give a to you.

Wait, that wasn't the finger for which I was looking.

I looked up the specs on the centro and the treo 700wx and there is a .29 inch difference,,,, Wow..... I didn't even use these standards when measuring with my scaling software on the pics when comparing and resizing the pics to a related scale. The 850 showed a .11 and .18 difference between these 2 models which means that my picture comparison is exactly perfect totaling a .29 difference. I arrived at that before even comparing the pic scale between the centro and 700.

That's pretty cool. So my pic is not even .01 inches off. Its pretty much perfect as long as the 850 lit screen area is the same as a 700's lit screen area.

    Of course not...

I think they would have to at least make the 800 screen the same as the 700.

Considering june is right around the corner, real specs should start to trickle out of palm...

    Your posts are interesting though...

Thanks for that pic, JPR. I guess we don't know the final dimensions of the screen on the 800w, but I presume it will be similar to that on the Centro (at least the keyboard between the two looks the same). The two look to be very similar sizes in your comparison.

800 has keys like the treo 700wx...

850 has keys like the centro...

Give that, I'd guess the 800 has the same screen size or larger than the 700wx. I think it was said the 800w is 320 x 320... don't know if that is official.

The 850w needs to come out on Sprint, instead of the 800w.

I cannot take the Centro keypad. It is just too small for my finger. I had to type using my fingernails.

I will get the 800w. It is not any much bigger.
  19. #39
Truly truly I say to you the 850 and 800 will have the same screen size, (2.5), diagonal as the past treos so the keyboard on the 850 will be .18 inches bigger that the centro, couple that with the improved tactile experience present on a centro device and we are in for a wonderful keyboarding experience that has become the hallmark of palm hardware!!! We are treo lovers because treo kicks @$$ and the 850 and 800 will be even better that all the palm hardware that has come before it!!! There is no chance that the addition of GPS and WiFi will be contained in a "centro size" thus the new hardware will have the benefits of innovation, successful redesign and tried and true, loved, uber friendly form similar to the 700 series,,,,, (but better)!!!!

I far far far prefer my keyboard on my 700wx than my wifes Centro.
That rubbery mushy strait-lined keys keyboard blows.. IMHO

I like my harder plastic buttons that just sort of "pop" when I press keys which I feel is a far better feedback.

This is all subjective of course.
I will get the 800 because I also like the curvature of the keyboard. The alignment of the keys is not natural on the Centro.
