Which app is better for 700wx tethering?

    1) modemlink - connects but then freezes/disconnects within 2 seconds
    2) pdanet - not try yet
    3) usbmodem? - gives me Carrier Detect problems

    thanks

I've used PDANET and ModemLink and because Modemlink is FREE that's what I've stuck with.

I wonder why yours disconnects? Maybe a carrier issue?

I know that Sprint is now BLOCKING the tethering and so is AT&T from what they told me.

Alltel is what I have and 6 months+ of daily tethering (well, monday thru friday) and they haven't called me about it.

I'm running Vista on all my computers, but I've done it with XP as well.

I've only used pdanet.... that seemed to be the best option sometime last year... I've heard of the others. Are they hacks or companies?

I've not seen any blocking of pdanet by sprint... I use mine maybe two or three times a month... just tested it a couple of minutes ago, it is fine.

Now if you plan on staying connected or using it for more than two weeks out a month, I'd say pay for the usage and don't risk getting blocked. If using sparingly, spring for pdanet and you will be fine.

Is there any way not having to install Activesync to use pdanet?
