I'm having trouble with syncing with Outlook with my new Treo 750. I've got Vista and WMDC 6.1. When I've used the same computer in the past to sync with a Dell Axim handheld, the pim file size was fairly small. Now on the Treo, I keep running out of memory with the same Outlook database. On the Dell, I could store contacts, calendar, tasks, notes, and a lot of other files and still didn't touch half the memory capacity. The Treo has more memory to start with, but the sync barely lets me store the contacts portion, let alone the calendar and tasks, etc. What gives? I've talked with Palm support to no avail. They can't answer. Does the Windows Mobile Device Center software handle the sync file differently on the Treo than other devices. Why is it so bloated? Thanks for any help you can give. I'm about to take this back and go with another phone if I can't get it to work right.

That really doesn't make much sense. Your description was great, it's the problem that's stumping me. The Treo should be able to hold thousands of contacts without a problem.

Have you tried deleting all the partnerships and setting up the sync relationship from scratch? If that's a no-go, then I would try a hard reset on the device and then set up a new sync relationship.

It's possible it could be on the PC side. If none of the above resolves it, then try syncing with a different PC. (You would have to export your contacts and import them to the new PC to truly test.)

I've tried setting up a different sync relationship twice now, I've hard reset (and lost all my hard work obviously) three times now. I've tried loading just the calendar portion of my Outlook and it slams it in there no problem. It's the contacts that 1. take forever, and 2. gobble up all the storage memory. Is there anyway to increase the memory on the Treo750? I just don't get it. I know my contact file is huge (8800 contacts) but it's still just a datafile. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Do you need all 8800 contacts on your treo? You could move non-essential contacts to a separate PST, then the sync would only copy what's left in your regular contacts.
