I am wanting to change my left soft key to access my alarm rather than Email. I have gone into the registry, but I'm not quite sure what to do once I get to key 112. Can someone give me a lead and/or offer some guidance on this?

    modaco registry tweaks

Try the above, loads of tweak, have tried some on WM6, some seem to work but others don't. There is some there for changing the softkeys I have pasted them in from the modaco website below.

"To change the application launched by the Today screen Left soft key:

    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112\Open = "\Windows\Calendar.exe" (REGSZ string, including quotes)

To change the title of the Left soft key:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112\(Default) = "Calendar" (REGSZ string, no quotes)

To change the application launched by the Today screen Right soft key:

    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\113\Open = "\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Contacts.lnk" (REGSZ string, including quotes)

To change the title of the Right soft key:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\113\(Default) = "Contacts" (REGSZ string, no quotes)

Note that 113 normally doesn't exist by default, and probably needs to be created
Also note that there is at least 1 application that allows you to set these through a GUI, developed by FdcSoft called SoftKeyAppletEx."

Dude! I feel really ignorant. I have no idea what most of that means.

hehehe, don't worry, neither did I till a wee while ago, it would be really worthwhile reading the following HobbesIsRealguide
courtesy of HobbesIsReal of course. Just follow it to the letter and you won't go wrong.

Okay, I went into the 112 Key file, but I don't know what to change the value data of --> calendar.exe to. The Alarm is in the Settings--> System--> Clock&Alarm file.

Also, do I need to change the Default values or just the open values:?

What's wrong with extending your thumb an extra inch and touching the Date line on your today screen? It will take you straight to your alarms.

As for the file, its \Windows\clock.exe

Unfortunatly the date line....which I really like, is removed when you use "hidelogo" to get rid of the stupid BT/Carrier line. Since the Email softkey is just hanging out and not being used, I figured that it could serve a functional purpose of activating/accessing the alarm.

Yeah, that's all wrapped up together. But why use Hidelogo when you can turn the carrier line into something useful?

    Mine looks like this: "Sig=74% Bat=50% 21MB"

So I can see signal strength, battery level, and available program memory at a glance. This is just one of the default views of TreoAlert that can be shown when it's not doing it's real job.

TreoAlert will use that line to show missed calls, emails, SMS and Voicemail (if there are any) and will also blink your LED and/or play a periodic audio reminder until you clear them.

If I'm not mistaken, the same guys who made TreoAlert are responsible for HideLogo.

I can see my signal strength with the little bars and the battery charge with the little battery icon. I don't really need to know how much memory is available. However, the flashing LED is a good idea.

That's only one of the choices for the default display. You could also do something like "VM= 0 MC= 0 SM= 0 EM= 0" for voicemail, missed calls, SMS, and Email.
