This is all over the net, and all over this site. I have been doing a lot of looking around and found what I believe is the reason we suddenly can't use the Arcsoft MMS to send picmail. The answer is Sprint is blocking Pocket PC customers from using "Third party" apps to send picmail. Blocking. Not a new server IP, not another hack will work. Therefore if you have a Sprint # that is to your PPC, they have set the MMS server to deny access, forcing us to send pix via e-mail. There is an active petition at Sprint's forum, I'd suggest anyone to sign up and add your complaint.

    Site: www.buzzaboutwireless.com

    The petition: http://forums.buzzaboutwireless.com/...thread.id=2455

getting after sprint on mms issue

also thier is a petiton on buzzaboutwireless.com sign it and say something. this is my email and responses from sprint. you kinda have to read from top to bottom as its posts then replies.

    Thank you for your reply.

Thanks for the extra minutes, but they do me know good, as we never go over. They are far from compensation for the inadequacy sprint has done by taking away and shutting down phone to phone texting pics. This is a huge issue for me and tens of thousands of others, one of you should take the time and google " htc mms" or " htc touch pics " or anything in that pertains to that thought, and you will see just SOME of the angry customers sprint has caused. This is one, if not the most expensive, phone sprint offers and it does not have the very basic offerings the cheap phones has.BIG NO NO HERE SPRINT, SHAME ON YOU. This is suppose to be a smart phone. Not a we make a cool expensive phone but take away the normal much used everyday features phone. I have a 6 month old and a 3 year that i text pics of to family member and freinds all the time and now i cannot evendo that !!!my family and freinds are losing out beause of sprints neglegiance!!! I love this phone but hate the s
ervice , i pay for power vision and pics but don't get both. FIX IT AND MAKE IT A REAL SMARTPHONE, NOT A HALF *** IT KINDA WORKS PHONE!!!! TAKE CARE OF ME AND YOUR LOYAl SPRint CUSTOMERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!and seriously GOOGlE IT and you will see. I took my phone in for service yesterday and the lady said she has had a lot of mad people come in about this, and she said she is expecting a lot of returns, nice job sprint. And i maybe one of them yet, to bad, i really really love this phone. But feel sprint does not care, they made their sale. -----Original Message-----

Oh, goodness... some people won't stop until sprint is out of business.

But this is what happens when you go cheap....

I've never used MMS nor do I have any intention to ever do so. I also don't want to send messages like the above and get flagged for the next round of Sprint-initiated contract terminations.

IMO all the good that Sprint (cheap plans, good quality, exclusive Treos) offers highly outweighs the few reasons to complain.

Maybe if I used MMS I would care but I think I would probably just revert to using email.

I think it is a poor move to keep PPC phones from using MMS but there are more important things such as cost and coverage that far outweigh the lack of MMS. My only grief is that I can't get my mind around the reasoning behind the behavior.

Next time can people please use a spelling and grammar checker before sending correspondence to Sprint? (or any other corporation) No offense intended, but wow was that a brutal letter to read...

Seriously. People constantly complain about bad business, and bad service, but never stop to think that there can also be bad customers. I couldn't even imagine having to punch a clock to spend hours reading through crap like that.

If capitulation, grammar, and formatting are so un-important to you, then call customer service instead. You have no professional business behind a keyboard.

That's one reason I stick with Alltel over Verizon (communist suckers) and Sprint.
While their base plans may not always be the cheapest, they keep ADDING extra's as tim egoes on rather than taking things away!

Now I get TWENTY free numbers, all free calling starts at 7PM now (instead of 9PM like it always was) and unlimited data plan MEANS UNLIMITED DATA PLAN where I run my phone online all day long, weather it's just streaming video/audio with the phone into my headphones, or if it's tethered to the laptop for six hours straight watching a crap load of youtube!
I don't even pay for the extra TETHERING plan and my Alltel rep told me NOT to bother adding the tether plan unless Alltel catches me first and all they would then do is say I need the $10/month additional plan.

And they have more coverage in Arizona than Verizon. No matter what the verizon commercial says about their network.

I did however miss the MMS picture/text when I got a Treo. But what the Treo can do far outweighs having the MMS. I never have tried a hack for it.

and a lot of them are smartphone enthusiasts like us. they are hampered by not being able to send mms also. they are just as pissed as we are, and it is not their decision. then they gotta deal with ******* customers

Do you mean capitalization? Capitulation means surrendering.

Regarding the lack of MMS, I understand the OP's frustration. It's true that it's too bad for those that want to use it (I don't need MMS, personally). You get an expensive phone and you can't do some things that come standard on some cheap phones.

But seriously, when e-mailing e-care for anything, it's important to proofread your e-mail (at the very least), and also, there's no need to be rude.

Yes, you are correct, I did not mean to say capitulation.

As for irony? Hmm, not sure where misusing a word would show that capitalization, grammar, or formatting are unimportant to me.

I have to agree heartily with RStall. A lot of these employees are in fact using the very same phones we are, and have to suffer from the same problems. Even if that were not the case, having such a poor attitude and being so overly aggressive is completely uncalled for. It will NOT get you better service, it will NOT help your case, and most importantly it is just plain rude. Especially when the person you're corresponding with shows you nothing but courtesy.

I just received a reply from my question about this to sprint. They first told me the issue was a manufacture issue. I then replied that I used to be able to do with another program. Then this was there last reply. Has anyone else received this kind of offer?

    Dear Daren,

Thank you for your reply. I apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced due to the phone.

I would like to assure you that the capability is not blocked by Sprint. I understand that you wish to have a picture mail and Video Mail capable phone. Considering you long time association with us as an exception, I can offer a new Palm Treo 755p for free as a replacement with the current Treo 700 WX. However, you will be required to return the current Treo 700 WX.

If you wish to avail the offer, simply write back to me with the confirmation and I will place the order for you along with the Return Kit for the current phone.

Thank you again for contacting us. Have a great day.

    Sincerely,
    Ronald L
