if i'm being a moron PLEASE tell me!!!! here's what i do to get PAN working (WM6 ATT T750 and Vista Business Thinkpad X60s).

750: start up Internet Sharing app
750: reset Network Connection from ICS to AT&T (it doesn't save the setting)
    750: hit Connect
PC: right click network icon in tray, choose "Network and Sharing Center"
PC: click "Set up a connection or network"
PC: scroll down, select Bluetooth PAN, hit Next
PC: T750 is selected, hit Connect

this set of steps seems insane. is there some way to make this not silly? am i being a dope?

    tia,

If you're stuck on doing it bluetooth, then that's how it's done. If that's too many steps for you, then use the cable.

Then you just plug it in and on the treo, connect in ICS. The PC will automatically recognize the treo as a network device. This also gives the added benefit of charging while you surf.

can anyone describe this process for XP, not Vista? I have never been able to tether using BT with my WM6 Treo 750 and my laptop.

It's not really any different from what's described in post #1.

Open ICS and set it to Bluetooth PAN. Click "connect".

On the PC, go into your bluetooth settings and connect to a bluetooth PAN.

(Mine is actually a bit different since I'm using Dell BT drivers on my laptop. I have to go to "Bluetooth/Quick Connect/Network Access" and select my Treo.)

Personally I prefer the cable as it's a simpler connect process and it charges at the same time. The battery drains fast with both the 3G and BT radios running.

I agree, but the other day, I found myself wanting the internet on my laptop, not having my cable, and no wifi within hearing range. Now i have it working. Thanks...

I believe I must be the one being a moron. I've tried these steps and other advice I've seen in posts but I still don't understand how to get my Treo 750 to tether to my laptop. My PC does not automatically recognize the treo as a network device, that I see. I understand about going to Internet Sharing but is there something I also must do under the Connections tab in the Settings area?

Nevermind, I figured it. Moron-ness wiped away...lol. I do have a question about usage. Everyone says not to worry as long as you generally don't use more than 5G per month (I believe that was right) tethered. To use more could possibly put up a red flag. How and where do you track that amount, while being tethered?

Where do you find the Connect button? I am using Windows 7, witch is mostly Vista...but i do not manage to find the Connect button.

You may want to investigate SPB Wireless Monitor, which will allow you to track your GPRS usage.
