I didnt have it last night when I went to bed but when I woke up now, I have this solid white triangle in between voicemail indicator and "E" on top of my screen. When I tap on it, nothing happens. What is it?? Is it roaming or something, which would be strange coz I am not in roaming and am not using internet connection.
I am using old/blue ATT wireless SIM with unlocked Treo 750.

Any ideas on how to get rid of it and why it came up suddenly??

Looking in the manuals, there are NO triangle icons.

There are only a few that are vaguely triangular.

    UNDER WM6:

The reminder icon is of a bell (roughly triangular) and has little lines radiating from the top of it. But if you tapped on it, it would open the reminder.

The only other one is an arrow with a triangular point aiming up to the right. This means that all calls have been forwarded.

    UNDER WM5:

Forwarding arrow is the same, but points down to the right.

    UNDER BOTH:

The "no SIM inserted" icon is a rectangle on its side with the upper right corner angled off and an X covering the upper left, which makes is look kinda like a triangle with the top cut off.

Beyond that, I can't help. I've compared both manuals side by side and thats the best I can come up with.

NOTE: These manuals are for Cingular (WM5) and ATT (WM6). It may be possible that a different ROM could have something else baked in. It could even possbily be something from an app that you loaded. Try resetting and see if it clears.

It is still the roaming indicator. I believe I did read somewhere that this was happening for the WM6 Treo and the "Blue" SIM. Sorry, don't remember the solution.

Weird. I wonder why it wasn't listed as a status bar icon in the manuals...

I also get the white, solid isoscoles triangle in my Start bar at the top. From right to left I have:

    Clock
    Battery indicator
    Signal Strength
3G in a white box (what is this?)
    White Isosceles Triangle

What is the triangle for? Roaming? My phone indicates I'm on "ROGERS www.fido.ca" here in Vancouver, BC.

What is the 3G for? Is that the network speed? I don't have a data plan with Fido, should I still see the 3G?

    Thanks,
    Steve

Yes, now I know its roaming indicator and I am getting roaming ringtone for all my calls, so I can confirm that. Thing I cant understand is that I am on ATT network, I am not using any data and have been living at same place for last 2 years and have updated to WM6 more than a month ago, so did this roaming problem not show up before???? What changed in one night that caused the phone to think I am in roaming area?? Go figure!!!!

3G simply means that either UMTS or HSDPA is available.

If you are using an AT&T SIM and are in a ROGERS area, you're definitely roaming.

prabhg, I don't have an explanation for you. Does this indicator persist after a soft reset? You may want to call AT&T and ask to make sure you are not charged for roaming.

Could be as simple as a downed transmitter near your house. If you lost signal for your primary carrier, you would grab whatever is available and be "roaming".

    Definitely check with your carrier.

Went to phone preferences and changed the band selection from GSM to UMTS, and the white roaming indicator is gone. Now I do have "3G" instead of "E" in the top bar, which might be little taxing on my battery life, but I am gonna see how that goes....Seems like it was the GSM network that was causing the problem.. As of now, the white triangle is gone!!!

If you set it band selection to "auto" it will default to 3G if available and fall back on GPRS when it's not. Good to do as not everywhere has 3G yet.

Guys, yes the triangle means the phone "thinks" you are roaming.

I have an old Omnipoint SIM and my phone always thinks I'm roaming. This is a function of Windows Mobile 6. WM5 didn't have this. Your ATTwireless blue sim is probably now in the same boat.

I made a whole thread asking similar questions here:

    http://discussion.treocentral.com/sh...d.php?t=152870

Screenshots and everything of what you are experiencing.

There's really no FIX except to get a new SIM card... and since you are AT&T blue, chances are that pigs will fly and hell will freeze over before AT&T lets you get a new sim, and keep your blue plan.
