It takes forever to check Comcast email. I remember reading a hack but didn't show up in a search. Anyone have or remember the hack?

I am not understanding the question. I pull my comcast email w/ VersaMail and it is very fast (Just as fast as my pull from Sprint and my work email server.)

When I hit send a receive it hangs about 2-3 minutes in the "logging in" stage before it finishes. I'm not sure what Versamail is.

Sorry, wrong pew in the wrong church. Posting from my 755p via the new posts listing and did not recognize I was in the 700w/wx forum. My bad.

VersaMail is the PalmOS email program.

Not sure how you set up access on your W, but try deleting the set up and then recreate it from scratch. On the P sometimes the set-up gets corrupted and a delete and resetup restores normality, over writes don't seem to have the same outcome.

Actually it does the same on the Mogul as well.

In that case, is it a Comcast and not a WM or device issue?

I'm sure its Comcast but I remember seeing a hack thread awhile ago about it when I didn't have Comcast. Well Comcast bought Adelphia recently so now I'm a Comcast customer.

    Anyone have the hack?

    1. Change the Outgoing server port to 25 from 465. If it is blank, then it is port 25.
    2. Change the Incoming server port to 110 from 995. Again if it is already blank, it is port 110.
    3. Tools > Options > Tap on your Comcast account > Next (E-mail Setup 1/4) > Next (2/4) > Next (3/4) > Options > Next (Options 1/3) > Uncheck box "Require SSL connection" > Next > Finish > ok.
    4. Backup your Registry before performing the next step, just in case you need to revert back to factory setting without a hard reset.
    5. Add a new DWORD value ForceOffSSL, and value data = 1 (Base=Decimal) under Registry HKLM > Software > Microsoft > Inbox.
    6. Close all apps, and do a soft reset.

I recall it was the ssl hanging. I think untouch is on point.

Untouch has the correct hack but the problem is that that solution no longer works.

I can't even try it as I'm having problems sending emails anyway. I'm using smtp.sprintpcs.com for my outgoing with separate settings with my Sprint Vision username and password. Ugh...its just not working.

Why use smtp.sprintpcs.com? There is no need for that.

Your right it worked with just the comcast settings. On my Mogul I had to use the Sprint server to send. Everything works now. I'm going to mess with the Settings to see if I can get it to check quicker.

I tried changing the ports to 25 and 110 and it didn't make a difference. It hangs for 2-3 minutes before completion. Its so annoying. When I had Adelphia it was instant. I find using my Exchange email because of the speed.

The funny thing is that if I use my wifi on my i760 the connection to Comcast email is instant. I think that it has something to do with the wireless network we all use.

Yes that is true. Wifi when I had the Mogul was instant.

Anyone have any more ideas about this?

I had done the hack as described in post 10 some time ago, and it made the retrieval of mail very fast for a while. Then, it became very slow again. I verified that I still had the registry entry in place and all, so I just gave up and lived with slow e-mail retrieval.

Now, within the past two or three days, the retrieval of mail has become very fast. I'd suggest trying the hack again.
