I just got a new 750 from work running on the ATT network. I had a MDA, running WM5. I thought I'd really miss the extra screen space, but I've got to say I don't. I've installed the HSDPA files, and everything seems to work fine. Is it worth moving to the WM6 ROM? I've heard of issues with HSDPA not being as fast, having to install DUN hack to tether, ect, ect. Seems like a lot of trouble. Is it worth it?

    Thanks.

WM6 is far better and I have no idea what is being talked about for a "DUN hack to tether", it "just works" for me. WM6 is faster, more reliable, and has some nice extra features.

if you are happy with WM5 stay there.

I have to say, after loading WM6 I never looked back.

WM6 doesn't have DUN anymore. It uses "Internet Sharing" which simplifies the whole tethering process. Plug in usb, click connect, and surf!

HSDPA is very fast, OS runs smoother, interface is improved, and power management seems to be better.

There was some talk about AT&T requiring a special "tethering" data plan to use "Internet Sharing", but the Reality seems to be that you can use "IS" with just a regular data plan.

(But don't be surprised if AT&T changes that later.)

Also -- my TomTom ONE XL uses Bluetooth DUN to check for traffic updates. That does NOT work without DUN - I tried, oh how I tried....

FYI: Just remembered where I saw the need for the tether data plan. It was on the Palm download page for the AT&T WM6 update.

    http://www.palm.com/us/support/downl...pdate/att.html

    Specifically:

Internet Connection Sharing - Utilize your smartphone capabilities by using your phone as a high-speed wireless modem for your laptop. It's easy to set up and even easier to connect. Just click and go!

    Then in the fine print:

Within coverage area only. Requires tethered mode data plan. Additional service charges may apply.

So that functionality does appear to be baked into the AT&T rom. Don't know when they'll enforce it. If you ever want to load the unbranded ROM to get around that, you can find one that will install on an AT&T device here:
