Hello everyone, I have question on showing the true network ID instead of always at&t. I modded my Motorola phones to read the ID off the Network instead of from the SIM card, and was wondering if it was possible to do this on the 750.

I travel alot through WI, IA, & MN and would love to see which providers I am actually on easily. Right now I can go into the Field Test Menu and read the MNC/MCC code but that's kind of difficult when driving. It would be nice to just glance at the today screen and see it.

I hope I made some sense.

    Thanks much for your help.

bump...I was just going to ask this same question for a treo 700wx

I'm cool with my Verizon Wireless logo on the Today screen, I would just like it to display useful information such as which tower I'm using instead of "Extended Network"

Hmmm. I thought this happened by default. The reason I say that is that when I manually updated the carrier text to something different, the network was constantly overwriting it with "AT&T" every time my radio made contact.

Well, I do know in one of my previous GSM phones (a flashed motorola v400/v600) there was a setting in the engineering menu to not draw the alpha tags off the SIM and instead read them from the tower, since the default setting was to display whatever the SIM wanted displayed. Since Verizon has no SIM, I'm assuming there's a setting in the phone somewhere...was hoping it was the registry, but maybe it's built into the OS somehow. I've searched through the registry, or at least ran searches on "alpha", "tower", and other releated words and I can't find anything so far.

Sorry rush7, I have no experience with either the 700wx or CDMA networks.

Based on what I know of the registry in the GSM 750, you might have better luck searching for "carrier" as a keyword.

    Good luck.
