I have a freedom GPS keychain receiver, and it works great(!)... and I even love the Live Search map (that's free... yay)... but I want "voice guidance" which Live doesn't have... so can I just purchase (or somehow "get") TomTom software ONLY (without buying THEIR receiver or unit)?

Try Nav4all. Not very fancy but is a voice guided navigator software.
    Cingular 8125 with WM6 TNT WM 6.1
    Treo 750 with Official AT&T WM6

I'm using OnCourse. It was about $100 and works great. It is preloaded on its own minisd card, maps and all, makes it very easy to use.

To answer your question, yes, you can get TomTom Navigator 6 for PDAs (works perfectly on Treo) without having to buy their GPS receiver. Works just fine with your own. TomTom 6

What version of TT Nav 6 are you using with your 750?
    Are you using WM6?

I heard some versions of TT Nav 6 were NOT very compatible with Treo.

Using version 6.010. It installed and ran perfectly on WM5. Then I reinstalled after upgrading to WM6 and it runs perfectly there, too.

TomTom Customer Support, themselves, said TomTom 6 is not supported on the WM6 platform. The trick is to do a complete uninstall of TomTom Home on your computer and then reinstall everything from scratch. Works fine.
