The main reason I vanilized the 3 ROM is to get all the bands selection. In the original 3 WM6 ROM there were only 2 or 3 bands to choose from:
    Auto
    GSM(900+1800)+UMTS 2100
    GSM(1900+850)+UMTS(1900+850)

    Vanilizing it gives:
    Auto
    GSM(900+1800)+UMTS 2100
    GSM(1900+850)+UMTS(1900+850)
    GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(2100+850)
    GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(850)

in addition, it gets rid of some of the 3 customized links (not important), and the ROM is smaller in size (nice to have). (I discovered it when I realized my backups are smaller).

How did you do this? I'd like to do the same, especially so I can roam in Korea and Japan...hoping it will help find a signal faster.

    Thanks!

You need to unlock the Extended ROM, delete some files and hard reset. Use the instructions in post #168 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...t=extended+rom
