Please help me get BT DUN working.

I followed the instructions by holmes4 in this thread:

    http://treo.discussion.treocentral.c....php?p=1368188

And my Cingular 750 (WM5) connects to my Dell Insiron Notebook (Windows XP Standard Edition) and then immediately drops the connection after about three seconds (before I can even open a browser to take advantage of it). Then when I try to reconnect it keeps giving me an error message until I soft reset my treo and try again and then I still get the same results. I do not have it paired with any other bluetooth device, and I don't have any other software open and active at the time, other than PIE.

Any idea what my problem is? I'm tempted to install a WM6 BT DUN registry hack I downloaded from XDA-Developers, but wanted to hear first if anyone had any other suggestions.

    Thanks in advance!

Anyone out there with a Cingular 750 who has gotten BT DUN to work with Windows XP Standard?

Please tell me what you did.

I downloaded the leaked AT&T WM6 the day it was available but haven't been able to gather the courage to flash my 750. I'll wait for the official release.

Solutor: What do you know about the BT DUN registry change hacked from WM6 that's over at XDA? Would that work on my 750?

What prevent you from testing an officially released ROW ROM or an ATT rom ?

They are all working perfectly the stability improvements over WM5 are awesome, and last but not least, you can go back if you want.

If we are speaking about the same thing, the hack is targeted on having the old DUN support even on WM6. May be useful for ssome niche users, but for the vast majority of them is something like putting a steam engine on a 2007 car.

So, what you're saying is it is impossible to get BT DUN working on a Cingular 750?

    With WM5, that is.

Don't know if cingular locks the bt function in some way, but as already sayd the connection with wm5 is terribly unrliable and unstable.

BTW if you don't want to upgrade and simplify your life, try to use the standard string w/o the AT.

So write in the advanced tab of your bt modem

    +CGDCONT=1,"IP","your-apn" instead of

    AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","your-apn"

(obviously your-apn is something like wap.cingular, I dont know what apn you have to use on your network)

P.S. softreset your treo after the change
