I have WM6 installed on my treo 750. WM5 I was able to connect w/ my OSX 10.4 by initiating the connection from my macbook. Trying to do the same thing now but Its not working. What are the settings? Phone number?, Username, Password?

Also do I need to use ICS under programs?

any help would be great. Thanx

WM6 have a utility program to tether you phone with your computer. This utility is located on device programs and is called Internet Sharing (ICS).

On Windows, when connect your device to your computer and activate Internate Sharing, the computer sees the device as a network adapter and use it as a gateway to go to Internet. Check yourself if this behavior is the same on OS X.

-make sure to pair your device with your mac
    -launch ICS
-select Bluetooth PAN on PC connection option
    -Hit connect
-Check on your OS, for further action required

    Hope this help, good luck.

Word of caution: If you have the PDA Laptop Connect plan use ICS, if not strictly use My ISP!!

If you use ICS and do NOT have a PDA Laptop Connect Plan you're bill will be huge! ICS uses isp.cingular.com while My ISP uses wap.cingular.com

If your data plan is, for example, Media Max 200 you do NOT wanna use ICS!!

Would you substantiate your claim? This has been discussed many times and ICS (with access point isp.cingular.com) users have not received any huge bills. In fact a lot of Blackjack users have been enjoying ICS with just Media Max 200. I am on the PDA Connect plan (not the one with Laptop) and I don't get charged extra for ICS (granted, I only use ICS very sporadically). I'm not saying you're lying but if you have experience getting charged extra before, please share. Thanks.

I use ICS and start it by hitting connect and then it times out. Any ideas? I really need the BT DUN on OSX

    Thanx

BT DUN is not present anymore in WM6, you should use the BT PAN instead.

    Easier, quicker and more reliable.

Same here. I am having trouble connecting.

-I paired the two devices. Enabled Serial Port on the Treo.

-Checked off the Bluetooth box in Network Preferences

-Tried to Connect under ICS in Network Connections but fails with "The remote party has ended this connection."

*I can get the Treo to connect using the AT&T option under "Network Connection" but when I join on my mac I still don't have internet.

For people who cant get ICS to work, try adding bluetooth dun back in, using these instructions.

WM6 supports Bluetooth PAN. Go to Internet Sharing in the Programs and Connect. Then, on your Mac, in the Bluetooth drop down, select "Join Network on [Your Treo]". Thats it! You can now browse the internet over Bluetooth PAN.

    I find I get around 350 kbit/sec speeds.

Pretty much the same thing for PC. I just set mine up last night.

Im using WM6 and a laptop running windows vista.

Pair the phone with the computer (seems to require you to use a passkey, pick an 8 character one)

On the Treo open the internet sharing program and select bluetooth PAN and the AT&T as the network. Tap connect.

On the laptop, open the network connections and select connect on the bluetooth pan.

I initially installed PDAnet and it worked with the usb cable, but when I tried using the bluetooth I found it worked just as well and no cable to carry around...

    Speeds in the 800's

It's an UMTS like speed, in HSDPA I get speeds above 1 Mbps, usually 1.2/1.4 Mbps

any way to reverse this as in having the Treo connect to the PC's interent capabilities (i.e. cable internet on PC)- I keep running into dead ends-

Just connect the treo to the network enabled PC via activesync (via usb or BT) and browse the web.

Plugged BT in, PC turns it on. Has network access and activesync set to auto. pressed select device on treo and it it connected activesync via bt then asked for pair key, i did, and it connected-
I can see it connected, saying strength is good.
then it drops the connection as the treo then asks for "serial port"
my active sync only has com3, but my treo doesnt give me the option to choose com3. after i click on it, it says com0, 4, 7 and 8. This is probably why the activesync dropped the connection?

    what can i do?
