    Latest build = 3.2

    updated: 9/2
updated: 3 zipcodes to choose from, new icons that change when the weather changes.

i will try and update this whole post later this weekend with new pictures and what not.

Ok, with the original xcast teams permission, i have created a Plugin Version of Xcast.

Xcast gets weather info from weather.com and displays it on the todayscreen. It's small todayscreen space and light weight app size makes it nice app to have. Plus it's free.

The original xcast app can be found here, but if you dont have a carrier bar, dont bother trying to use it. That's what this new plugin version is for.

I have put like 40 hours into making this app. It has room for improvements, and will be updated as time goes on. The new version has the original display choice along with a few extras.

New in the Xcast Plugin Version....

I have given 5 display choices. The first one is the original with 4 new ones.

A display choice menu with examples to choose from.

An update interval menu where you choose how often it updates.

A one page veiw of weather info in text format. Notice the scroll bar. Too much info for one screen.

A quick link to web based forcast. Links are to weather.com. Choose from 4 different types.

And last a quick look at all your settings.

Things I am wanting to do with furture builds...

    1. More Display Choices. i just need some requests.
    2. I'm going to make the display choice screen actually display the current displays. Not just the examples. Done in version 2.0
    3. Quick link to web based Radar. weather.com just doesn't display big enough for pda viewing. need to find the right radar links.
    4. Get a better icon. i need on that's transparent.
    5. Work these display choices into the famous Treo Alert. Found here.

I would like to thank g-funkster and jdcochran for the original xcast and there permission to make this version. I would also like to thank slingbox, hannip, and zbop for teaching me how to write these apps.

    Enjoy, Cody

If anyone wants to donate, click here for paypal.

If you installed a previous version, no need to uninstall. Just install the new version and if will remove the old version. This will be the last build for a few weeks. Enjoy

    things in the 3.1 version....

i do belive i have fixed any auto update bugs that you may have found. i have put this app through some good testing and found it didn't always auto update like it should. i feel that is fixed now.

i also put in a couple new display choices.

    1. all the "feels like" displays have been changed to "(feels)". this give me more room for other goodies.
    2. i put in a "actualy temp / feels like temp / % of rain today/ % humitidy"
it will look like this... 75 (feels 79) 70% Rain 57% Hum
    3. also put in a "actualy temp / feels like temp / % of rain today/ rain at what time"
it will look like this... 75 (feels 79) 70% Rain @2pm
    or........................ 75 (feels 79) 30% Rain +6pm

you will notice in number 3 there is a "@" and a "+". the + means tomorrow and the @ means today. so in the first example of #3 it has a 70% chance of rain today with the expected time of rain at 2pm today, and the second example of #3 it has a 30% chance of rain today with the expected time of rain at 6pm tomorrow.

if you choose the display like the example and get "no time" after the % or rain... that means there is no rain expected for the next 2 days.

if anyone has weather display requests, please let me know. also, any bugs, please report.

    enjoy, cody

It'll show, it just doesn't update in real-time.

Every 15 minutes or 30 minutes, not really sure how often.
  8. #8
Yep no big deal though. The time setting/update retrieval just need a little tweaking it seems
    it,s 1 min off
    As viewed in current settings,
time until next update: 0 min
time since last update 14 min
The above status is set at 15 min update retrieval

Well it just updated at 14 min

that's the way it is suppose to be...

time until next update: 0 min ( and a few seconds )
time since last update 14 min ( and a few seconds ) = 15 minutes

if you want seconds i can do it in seconds

    Cody-
This looks awesome! Thanks for the hard work.
And, of course, thanks to g-funkster and JD for their great work on the original project!

****** Small problem (?): My plugin in stuck on "[Starting Xcast...Please Wait]

I do have an internet connection, I updated the settings file for use with version 2. Installed in main memory. Added my own city zip code. **********

UPDATE2: Did another soft reset and it's fine. Also, FYI, works well as a PocketBreeze Tab.

G-Funkster, where can I download that today theme you have on that screenshot? Also, how did you set-up the program icons under the carrier name like that?

The icons are from Launcher, it's freeware:
    http://www.scottandmichelle.net/scott/cestuff.html

I forget where I got the theme, some theme site, it was called bigfishxp. I've attached the theme file because I can't find it online.
