i have noticed that with WM6 it does eat a lot more mem then WM5...so what files have you deleted to make up mem...

i know that peeps have deleted the ATT stuff, and some other files located in windows but what does those other files do...such as the palm files, etc...

Stop expecting support on this unofficial release. I wouldn't bother mentioning it but you seem to be self-bumping your own post.

    You got your input now...

I'd also like to know what files are unnecessary so as to free up additional storage

You can delete the junk ATT stuff. You can also delete any HTML in \Windows directory for any apps that you have installed (that you think you won't need help files).

thanks jgold for the info...and as for rich im not even asking for any support...im just asking what file peeps have deleted to free up some mem...i didnt think my question was asking for any tech support...maybe you should re-read the post...and i know that there are some peeps that would like to also know what files they can delete to free up some mem...

Yes, thanks for posting the question, Rino808. The info is also helpful to me. I think maybe Rich thinks this forum is owned and run by Palm. Of course, Palm is not going to provide support, but particpants of the forum can help one another out.

Besides, I suspect Palm leaked the update intentionally. That way they can monitor users' reactions in order to avoid another situation like they had with the 700P update, which had to be recalled.

that could be a possibility...i know that there was a list on what to delete somewhere...also someone posted that one step is to hide files in rom...tried that and i didnt see any change or gain in mem...

tihs is what i found in a thread posted somewhere in here or was it xda...well lucky thing i wrote it down...someone posted that you can delete files from palm *.picp, also files that begin with qt_, the real palyer exe, help files, and oem.xxx files...dunno what these files do but those that know what these files are can you give us some input on if we can delete these without any error problems...thanks in advanced...

My problem wasn't the question. It was the self-bump whining about no responses.

What the heck is the realplayer.exe for??? It looks like that ATT music uses WMP. What app uses real player? Any one know? I guess I could move it to the card for safe keeping. Its wasting over 2 megs of internal space.

forget it. WM6 have .NET Compact Framework preinstalled, so is at least 5Mb bigger than WM5 without solution.

By the other side, you don't have to install it.

I've already gotten back 4 megs weeding trough the unneeded files. But I do that with all devices and all ROMs. The extra few megs are worth it, WM5 vs WM6 is a no brainer..............I'll take the bigger WM6!

what tool are you using to delete these files. Also can someone list all the files that are safe to delete?

The standard file explorer will work just fine. If you want more advanced features, an app like resco explorer will do the trick also.
