    Anyone notice their battery running out faster?

    Also.. whats the difference between "3G" and the "H"

    Are you sure it's not because you're playing with the treo more because it has the new OS?
    Mine has been running down fast, but I haven't put it down so that's to be expected. I guess I won't know until I go through a "normal" day with it.

    3G = UMTS, which used to be a "U" on WM5. I wish they had left it, "3G" is tacky.
    H = HSDPA
    UMTS, as you know is the base speed of that radio technology, at around 384kbps. HSDPA is an acceleration, up to 1.3Mbps on the Treo's hardware.
    Check out HSDPA on wikipiia.com if you want more on that.

    You'll notice it's on 3G most of the time and only switches to "H" when you're actively using data. This serves 2 purposes.
    1) Saves on battery by not staying in the higher power HSDPA mode. At least in theory.
    2) Relieves the cel site from maintaining too many simultaneous HSDPA connections.

    I had and 8525 and it would stay on "H" all of the time, not switch back to UMTS (3G in this case) when the data was idle. But it's battery seemed to run down fast. I'm hoping the way this works on the Treo actually helps extend the battery life.
    But in this case so far it seems like we're not necessarily getting better battery life. Could it be because of the new HSDPA support. Now that it's doing HSDPA it uses more power?

    So what does the E mean? Thanks to all for putting the information out there. I use to spend a lot of time on the board but it got to the point where you couldn't post questions because it always brought a go search response.

    "Edge"...or good ole' GPRS....or so I think?

    I'm loving WM6 so far. It is a different phone for me now. I think I can finally sell my 680.

    Yeah. On the WM6 ROM you have G, E, 3G, H:
    G=GPRS
    E=EDGE
    3G=UMTS
    H=HSDPA

    On WM5 it was just G and U:
    G=GPRS & EDGE
    U=UMTS (UMTS only, or UMTS & HSDPA if you had the HSDPA hack.)

    I like that it's now more specific. The Cing. 8525 had this.
    G, E, U, H.
    Treo 750 (AT&T)
    Treo600->Treo650->Cing8525->Blackberry 8700c->Treo750->AT&T Tilt->Treo750->iPhone 3G

    I am about to buy a 750 in the UK (i.e. unlocked GSM 750).

    Should I buy it now and flash it with this ROM or just wait for a WM6 version to go on sale? Anyone 'know' when that might be?

    Thanks.

    I have installed WM6 on my 750V. I have re-installed all previous programs and they all work well, except the push-mail one from Vodafone Italy.
    The connection is working, but the mail program on my Treo is not downloading any email. It does not even allow me to create a New email from my push account.
    Any suggestion or alternative push program?

    Hi,

    i am located in Geramny and installed it on a unlocked 750 and works Fine.
    No German language un the ROM but no problem for me.

    Now i have only one Problem with the wired Karkit. i ha e an original Palm Craddle for my car and on WM5 it works fine.
    Now, when doing or receiving a call, the Troe switches permanently between his own speaker an the speaker of the carkit.

    Nothing to understand.

    Any solution?

    Regards,
    Martin

    well for me i noticed that the bat lasts longer then before when it was wm5...gotta love this wm6...but the one thing that i noticed is that this wm6 has eaten up about 11mb of my mem...is that due to the new ATT stuff...or does anyone know what else it could be or how to gain back the mem...

    Its a pretty easy thing to flash the phone so I would say theres no reason to wait.

    Wow.. just updated my treo750. Its great!!! Everything is fast. This was a long overdue update for our treo. anyone checked if the delayed ringing bug when someone is calling has been solved? I like that the phone can now be locked when in media player and the music would not stop playing... cant wait for the real palm update. hehehe

    Thats right, and to make it smoother thats what backups exist.

    No need for audio patch from what I can tell. I've had no audio issues at all.

    When you run this update does it wipe all of the programs off of your phone? I want to update to WM6 but have unlocked my phone and do not want to have an issue with that or have to re-load all of my programs back on again.

    Thanks!

    Your phone will remain unlocked - mine did.

    But you really need to re-install apps and should not simply restore them from backup.

    I know it now includes .Net CF 2.0, which takes up a few meg. So you no longer need to install it separately. I don't think the AT&T stuff is mostly to blame because most of that is all just web shortcuts.

    I have never heard of anyone having a glitch free restore from a backup onto an updated ROM. And the problem will be that the user won't know if the had a bad re-imaging or a bad restore. Its just always a bad idea. And like the other poster said, it won't lock your phone and it will wipe all data. I always look at it as a chance for a clean start, spring cleaning.

    thanks taylorh, that a good thing to know that .Net CF is already installed...i was gonna install that back in...lol but i really dont think that is much of what is taking most of the mem...

    I've used mine moderately (as usual) today and am at 49% already (it is 12:19 pm CDT and I unplugged at 5:45 am CDT). I haven't played with any of the new features, as I am at work.

    WM6 definitely killed my battery. Usually I am at 60-70% right now.

    I'm definitely upgrading to the golden master version when it comes out.
