    I noticed that there is a new version of Google Maps out now after re-installing it on my Treo. The new version is 1.2.0.2 and there are a few more upgrades;

    1) More control of GPS receiver.
    2) More info on a search results.
    3) Pinpoint looks different after you have done a search.

    Anybody notice any other differences?

    Thanks for the head's up. I wouldn't have known to check Google Maps for any updates. How did you know about the new version? I didn't see any update feature on Google Maps on my device nor does it show there's a new version on their website.

    How do you get it? I went to the website (google.com/gmm) and tried both installing it over the current version and deleting and reinstalling. in both cases I still have 1.1.1.

    Do you happen to have 2 versions on your Treo, like on the SD card and Treo? I just installed mine, which automatically uninstalled the previous version. Mine shows 1.2.0.2.

    I'm pretty sure that the version mentioned by the OP is for WinMob only.

    I can't remember if 1.1.1 is a different version number from what was previously on my 680, but the map pinpoint is smaller now.

    Will this version actually install to the card? The previous version allows for the card to be selected but it still installed to the device.

    As Bill stated, it's a WM (Windows Mobile) update. According to your sig, you have Palm OS devices. There may not be any updates available, yet, for Palm OS.

    Nope, I was just coming to ask that. Even though you can select the card, it still installs on main memory.

    Looks like they also changed some of the settings and options -

    what used to be called 'Locate GPS' (or something - how sad that I forgot already; I used it earlier today!) is now 'Track Location'.

    Under Options they also have some stuff for 'Track Location Settings' - I guess that's the GPS interaction stuff.

    Nice overall - glad to see there's a new version out.

    It appears to be a bit buggy. I am having issues where it stops tracking when you get directions and some other weird stuff that wasnt there before. It does capture the GPS faster now though.

    i installed the new updated google maps on my treo 700wx...now how do i use it??

    Select Set Location to set our starting location.

    Then either use Directions and type the address of the of the place you need to get directions to. Also within your Contacts, you have an additional menu option to Locate in Google Maps.

    Or select Find Nearby Business to find a nearby business you are looking for. When you find a business, you can select on the pinpoint and you have additional menu options to call or even add the business to your contacts.

    When I type in an address, it usually picks it up if I enter in the following format (including the commas)...

    {Address # & Street}, {City}, {Zip code}

    What I did notice is when I'm tracking via GPS and I get a bunch of random symbols and letters, it doesn't necessarily stop tracking on my treo. I'm using a GPSlim 236 from Holux.

    If it still doesn't install to the card, have they at least allowed you to put the cache file in a particular directory (so you can clear it with utilities)?
