OK. Phone died and picked up a Verizon 700wx. I'm not real impressed with it's butchered WM (quirky), no broadband in my area, rediculous charges for built in functionality (tethering), and I've been a fan of Palms for years now though. So I was thinking about getting a 700P. So I start doing some research and then I'm noticing the SERO plan.

So now I'm thinking about the 755P through SERO instead. I called Verizon and they won't compete with it. Question is, since I'm still on the 30 day trial, am I locked into Verizon or can I bail out for SERO still? Anyone know the details on this?

Of course you can. That is what the 30 day trial is for!

I have to say sero is great and the unlimited data/text is worth the price alone!

I love my 700wx with the sero plan and can teather for free.

Well that's just it. I can't get the broadband everywhere anyway. So paying an extreme price for it seems stupid for me. However, the rest of it is a deal. Our Verizon bill is $70 for our 500min family plan by the time we add txt/pic. I can get two of these phones with data and everything for a little over $60. Verizon wanted $160 a month just to do all that. I just wanted to make sure I can jump ship after being a Verizon customer for so long. I hope Sprints network is as good. I've been pretty happy with my Verizon coverage I will say.

Sprint coverage is generally very good, except for a few glaring exceptions like most of Michigan (affiliate areas). Pretty much everywhere I travel I have excellent coverage, and there's much more data coverage with Sprint. Try before you buy, but Sprint has done a 180 over the last 4 years as far as I'm concerned. Except for CS that is, which is still lousy! But as long as I have the SERO plan and 25% corp discount, I'm with Sprint!

Well I called and picked up a 755p last night. We'll see if I like it more then the Verizon 700wx. If not, and assuming coverage is cool, I guess I'll return it for either the 700wx again. Hope this SERO thing is all that!! 8-)

Gpshemi, keep us posted on how you like the Sprint service. I also have Verizon and find it crazy for the unlimited plan and SERO looks so much more reaonable. Not sure how long the SERO plan is available for but our family plan is up in October and if I can squeeze another 2-3 months from my Verizon account I might switch.

I read somewhere that the offer ends 6/30/07. Of course they'll prolly renew it like last time, but who knows.

The price was the final straw though. I called Verizon and tried to talk them into at least coming back part way to match. My current plan was $50voice, $45data, and $15tether=$110 a month. SERO is $30 for basically the same thing and I can add cheaper options. VW wouldn't budge. So...I'm leaving - I think. I still have the 700wx for now. My 30 days isn't up yet. So I'll have the 755P at the same time. I hope I like it more. I also hope the coverage is all it's suppose to be. I'll let you all know.

Gottria: Google Sprint SERO and you'll find the answers to the SERO plan. I don't want to take up bandwidth to re-explain it. Sorry. There's tons of links out there on it and also here on TreoCentral.

I have a family share plan with the $45 data on one line. I pay between $125-$135 a month. With the Sero plan I would assume I just get 2 seperate line at $50 each, save about $35-$40 a month and go from 700 shared to 1250 each, or save ~$50-$60 and each get only 500 minutes.

Here's the link with very good info: http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=385350.
The official link is here: http://www.sprint.com/sero

There's an active thread in TC's CDMA forum. You may want to refer all your SERO related questions there.

That's pretty much how I viewed it too. We share the cheaper 500 minute plan for $50, then we add text/pic for each and end up with a $73 bill. I figure two of these phones will have 1000 min, free data and other stuff, and then still end up at the same cost. Too good to not try one for 30 days.

Hey...another question. If I get this 755P and find out I'd rather have the 700wx like I have with VZW and ask to exchange it will they send me a new 700wx or a refurbed unit?

Nevermind. The 755P is slick. I like this one alot more. It's easier to use, better coverage in my neck of the woods, a boat load of freeware apps out there, and it's way cheaper...win win...

So you like the 755P better than the 700wx. I was a Palm user when it was the 3x , I think thats what it was called, used 1 or 2 AA batteries. Then I switched to the Windows version. I'll pop into a Sprint store and see if they have a demo of the 755P. I have heard nothing but good things about it.

I myself just came from a Verizon 700w to a Sprint 700wx with SERO. Savings are $70 a month! That is obscene. The only bad thing is I have to pay ETF to Verizon but it is worth it. This will be round 2 with Sprint. Left them 3 years ago due to bad CS. I hope they are better now. So far so good.

I've been on sero since jan 07... have a verizon phone as well... contract ends July 07... so far verizon's network (or maybe phone?) works better than sprint's network. With sprint I have dropped calls and sometimes call won't go through. In addition, the places that I go, I have ev with verizon, but only 1x with sprint. Side by side, dropped calls on sprint treo, call back on my moto e815 and talk as long as I want... In walmart, can't hardly hear the person on sprint, call back on verizon, things are just fine. Both phones have identical bars (yea, I know, you can't judge by looking at the bars... just saying).

I can't complain though... purchased the 700wx for $299 and got $450 back in rebates/specials.

I'm thinking of getting another sero plan with a "regular" phone... that might work out better in the long run than keeping verizon... guess I'll figure it all out and maybe enter into a month to month with verizon after july....

Love having all this free stuff with sprint... now I see free txt msg... I think I'll call to see if I can extend my contract and get that as well...

Customer service does suck at sprint... I sent an email for support about the dropped calls... rep called me at 10:30 pm (yea, at night), only to say someone would call me back... no one ever did, that was maybe two weeks ago. lol.... but the "deal" is worth putting up with shytay cs....

theog..have you updated your PRL version on your sprint phone? should be 20227 i think. dial *2 and say 'prl update'..ask rep to flag your account for a prl update.

I thought sprint had data roaming deals all over..especially with verizon. If you had ev with verizon you should have it with sprint. Maybe you have an old prl list?

I went down to the sero thread and just got free unlimited txt added to my account for free... while on the call to sprint, they told me I needed an update... maybe you were right, I'll see. Gosh, I hope it works.... I really want it to work as I'm paying $45 a month for my verizon phone... would love to be able to dump that cost come july.

Thanks for your post though.... I really appreciate it....

Theog, $70 a month savings, that's awsome. I'm going to research it this weekend and talk to the wife. Her biggest complaint is not being able to keep her old number. I guess I have to wait till my contract is up with VZW in August then port over my number.

I'll save about $50 once I dump verizon...

well, rather, if I had a treo with data on verizon (dumped sprint) it would cost $80. With that I would get 450 minutes, nights start at 9 pm end at what 6 am (think it is still 6). Plus, I would need to pay for txt msgs.

With sprint it cost $30... I have 600 minutes (500 + extra bonus 100 minutes), free txt, nights start at 7 and end at 7.

So I save around $50 per month or $600 a year... not to mention the extra tax on $80 vs. $30... yea, I'm a cheap mofo.

I can't wait to test the phone to see if it stop dropping calls at my storage place... I'm going to drive down tomorrow just to test this... verizon does not have a problem there... I'll also need to test at walmart.

When I called though, the lady said I should look at a sanyo phone before sticking with verizon... I have time to figure it out... I can go month to month with verizon and switch at any time... even with two sero plans, the cost would be $60... so I'd still save $20 a month.

But I need a reliable phone... I'll pay the extra money for reliable phone service... period... I have old parents... not getting a call or being able to hold a call is an option for me... do what you have to do.... nice to save money, but not always about the money....

Theog, gpshemi, how is the service and coverage with Sprint vs VZW? I just got my first bill with VZW with a whole month of PDA/DAta plan, $140. We had about $12 worth of data for some texts and no overages. I'm switching this week as this is just to much for us right now.

how did sprint charge you for the phone? First bill, credit card? If I just go with the RAZR for now I assume I can pick up a used 700wx or 755p later and switch ESNs online? Only trying to keep costs down right no because I'm locked in with VZW till September.
