    Coming soon.

    Features:
    - Monitors carrier line and rotates banners from any app that writes to it.
    - Only requires minor changes to existing scripts.
    - Will not need shared ini file or registry strings
    - No new scripts to call. Separate cab install. Existing apps with mods for CarrierMon will work fine with or without CarrierMon installed.
    - Supports multi-line text per app
    - Apps will be able to control stop/start of banner rotate without any additional reg or file writes.

Permission request: For any apps out there that use the carrier line and want me to retrofit your apps to work with CarrierMon let me know. I'll make the changes and send to you for repost.
I'll be making the change to Treo Alerts 5.2 for my personal use. If Sling and Cody give the ok I can make it available for others.

Here is a preview of the details.
    Code:
    # - To retrofit apps that write to the carrier line simply tack on the folowing
    # parameters at the end of the text beyond the visible range.
    #
    # Within brackets there will be the following positional parameters delimited
    # by a colon. Optional parameters can be left out or skipped with a null entry
    # 1. name of app (mandatory - must conform to proper variable name)
    # 2. action (mandatory)
    # 3. message id (optional integer identifying a message slot for the app -
    # default is 1)
    # 4. how long to display before switching in seconds (optional -
    # will use SwitchSecs as default)
    # 5. expiration timestamp (optional - text removed from list after ts reached)
    #
    # The following actions are supported
    # S - save to display in rotation with others (matching message id will be replaced)
    # R - replace all messages for app with this one
    # D - delete all messages for app after this one is displayed
    # H - hold rotation while displaying this message
    #
    # Examples:
    # "Xcast updating for 20109 [Xcast:H]"
    # "10p: 62(Lo:55) No Precip :) [Xcast:S:1:5]"
    # "Friday, April 27, 2007 [cDate:S:1:5:1177675199]"

cool, so we could have one option to use the shared carrier line and another to use billboard and let the user decide I guess?
    Palm III > HS Visor > Treo 600 > Treo 650 > Treo 750 > Treo Pro > PrePlus GSM

"95% of all software issues are due to USER ERROR."

    Yes, that should work fine.

hehe, just to be clear, this is not in competition with the zbop's billboard. It can be used in concert with billboard or at user's choice.

I'm sure some people will want multiple scripts AND want to conserve the space, so this is good.

BTW, I wear steel-toed sh*tkickers, so no worries here

Better not confuse the Vicodin with the Viagra. Remember, too, that Calomine Lotion is abrasive, so don't linger in one place too long.

Happip -- gord head and tackle xcast. G-Funkster will also need to approve, but I suspect that he will. The latest version is on p 11 of the thread. How will you handle variable display options in the script? As an example, if the xcast.ini calls for "both" then the xcast display has 5 or so temporary messages, then ends in a persistent one (the abbreviated forecast).

Like in the example the temporary banners will use the hold action which stops the rotation until a message replaces it. Messages with hold action do not get added to the rotation. They are intended to be used for short status or alert type of events.
