Hi there, I am trying to figure out the best way to get email on my treo. I dont want to pay a monthly fee for exchange or anything like that. I like gmail but it drives me insane how everytime I send mail it ends up right back in my inbox. Does anyone know of any good free pop services to use for my treo, with good spam protection like gmail? Preferrably without taglines at the bottom either.

For a $15 1 time setup fee you can have an IMAP account on http://www.fastmail.us/ with SMTP access (to send email.) They have a free one, but you can't send email through SMTP unless you pay the $15.

Then set up your email with fastmail.us IMAP.

IMAP generally works better than POP for mail and fastmail really is very fast and performs well so doing a send/recieve isn't going to set you back more than a few seconds if there isn't new email.
I'm not sure how good fastmail's SPAM protection is.

When the iPhone comes out it'll have free IMAP through Yahoo. So I'm certainly hoping Yahoo will offer IMAP service to all of us (not just iPhone owners.) Currently I only know 2 ways to get to yahoo IMAP.
    1) Use Seven's new beta version http://community.seven.com/ which turns Yahoo IMAP in to push. And it's totally free.
    2) Use Yahoo Go . But I wasn't a big fan of the 1.0 version and the 2.0 version isn't out for windows mobile yet.
Yahoo is free and has decent spam protection. But POP access isn't free. It'll set you back a whopping $20 a year (sarcasm.)

One more thing to consider, and it's back to the new Seven Beta.
Install Seven beta and configure it to use GMail. It's free, it works with your existing Gmail account, and you won't get email back in your inbox when you send through it.
