alright well i just did a hard reset and the first thing i did was open up internet explorer and went to www.dslreports.com/mspeed did a 1mb file and got 968kbps. how is that possible? no hsdpa hack or anything and ive had the treo 750 since jan 8th so its not a new rom or anything. is there a reason for this working without the hack?

You're measuring the speed to Cingular's proxy server, not to your phone.

A hard reset won't lock an unlocked phone, will it?

IE is configured in the registry to use the Cingular proxy no matter what your actual netwrok settings are set to. This will screw up the speed test and make it look faster than it is by measuring the download speed to the proxy, not to the phone.
