Considering Netfront has had Flash support for ages now, I wouldn't hold your breath.

It's not just Flash but the codec that's involved: there's no official mobile version to write into the software, otherwise it would have been done by now.

They're just probably throwing this in there to catch up to Netfront in this area but I wouldn't bet on the holy grail of Youtube/Streaming video support just yet. We'll see though.

8.65 is not ready yet. Opera staff member on their public forum writes:

For the record, Opera Mobile 8.65 for WM is still not released. And this page should not be public.

When the release is here, this will of course be announced. At least now you know what to look foward to."

You tube streaming is possible... You just have to go through ORB to do it...
    In case you didn't know

How do you stream youtube with sound? I have ORB & haven't been able to figure it out.
  12. #12
With the latest version you have to go to ORB's help section and download all the codecs....Didn't have to in the last issue of version 2 but anyway. After you have all the codecs installed on your desktop just go to the videos tab then to online videos and you'll get the search boxes

Then you'll be able to stream to the Treo700wx WITH sound?
  14. #14
I get full sound and video I just wish they had metacafe as a search site.... Any way this is kind of off topic. I have and use occasionally Opera on the Treo for a browser (although not for orb) and I use TCMP instead of media player to play the streams. Try it it works the Codecs are something like ffdshow and something or other splitter just do a search for Orb codecs

    nice find

For those that have it installed, is it running well on your w or wx? Can you install it without it becoming the default browser for opening links through email? That's what happened to me with the last version I tried and I had to do a hard reset to fix.

Same thing happened to me that happened to scubaduba. I needed a hard reset on version 8.60 to fix.

Flash support doesn't really cut it for me. It only plays flash content authored for mobile devices, not regular pages with flash content.

I downloaded Opera 8.65 beta to my Verizon 700wx in main memory. Once loaded it wouldn't run -- not enough system resources; yet nothing else was running.

So I removed it from my Treo.

I was thinking of re-installing on my SD card. I have read that this version has a fix for the problem in 8.60 which disabled links in Outlook. However, I have Sprite Backup and my backup files loaded on my SD. Will installing Opera on my SD mess up Sprite or vice versa?

I have the following apps on my system (in addition to the default programs), all loaded in main meory, except for Sprite Backup.

    Adobe PDF Viewer
    PDANet
    AIM 2.0 (Hacked)
    Google Maps
    SiriusWM5
    Sprite Backup

    Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your help.
