Hannip is there a way to create a icon subfolder the works with resource.
That way if you should want to change icon or add icon we can simple dump them in.

We all are going to be using cab file .We drop the icon into the cab build directing it to icon subfolder.
    EDIT,
Thinking about it hmm it would never work.If your picking a ref#105 that belongs to another script it would be headaches

MortIcons cab template has been updated with MortIcons.exe version 2.

    Icon map:
    ResourceId : iconfile
    107 : keylight-1.ico
    108 : keylight-2.ico
    116 : vibe1.ico
    117 : tomtom1.ico

Start building your cabs! If you need assistance let me know.

I agree with JDC on this. I think a best practice would be to include the folder/.mscr(s) in a zip always whether a cab is there or not.
  7.    #27
hmm, should there maybe be two separate zips. One for the mass public that uses a cab install and another for the techie that wants to control where things go? I'm not liking the idea of having both a cab and a folder in the same zip. It will just lead to confusion for the masses that don't care where things are stored as long as it is easy and it works.

Hannip call me dumb but Im having a diffulcut time with the morticon cab.Adding script and all the good stuff to the cab build I feel is over my head.As in the PM sent to you im using the keylight cab as a templet to fill in the blanks for the tomtom stealth.Could there be a easy wayt to update the resource with out having to build script into it.Like a resource cab updater with icon README giving ID?
Build my own cab with mscr file path to programs,Resource file to Windows and add short cut file to be pushed
  9.    #29
Why don't we work out where you are having difficulty. I don't think you want to give users instructions on how to make a shortcut that points to some resource file. This needs to be done for them.

BTW, what tool are you using to make your cabs?

Do me a favor drop the script into egsisting morticon cab on were the icon valeu change is giving highlight to were script goes and what were icon id chage is put in.
    Please post view
We will all learn much more easy
  12.    #32
Dude, your application script does not go into the install.mscr. Add your application scripts to the cab as sepearate files.
The only thing you have to do to install.mscr is stuff related to the install itself such as setting the iconVersReq to 2 to indicate that your application requires version 2 of MortIcons.exe and copying of the shortcut file(s) to the right place. See the keylight cab. It pretty much does everything you need.
  13.    #33
Sling I think your difficultly might be in how you are making the cab. What tool are you using?

Are you really going to let Scotty beat you? He's almost done making his cab.

    Sounds good. Make it so.
  16. #36
This is a pain is the A..
  17.    #37
probably cuz you are using some crappy tools. Scotty and I are using WinCE Cab Manager.
  18. #38
    That what I use

    what is the pain?

Im a little ticked because Im having such a hard time with this deal so please excuse me but how easy it would be to have a resource file located in windows,Build your script,Have it in cab form or a simple drop in programs ,include shortcut. and your done easy. Now the not so easy- having the the talent build such a file myself or it being available.
