The driver is not needed anymore with WM6.

Upgrade your treo and use the PAN way to connect.

Thanks a lot for the quick response! Unfortunately, here's what happens when I try to get internet sharing to work between my 750 and my Vista laptop over USB:

    1. I connect the USB cable
    2. Start internet sharing, check that settings are correct, and click "connect"
    3. Laptop makes a sound and tells me it has found new hardware and I am prompted to insert a disc or locate the drivers
    4. Whatever I try to do, the phone is not recognised

The weird part is that syncing over USB works fine. Also, under device manager the phone shows as "windows mobile device", but when I start internet sharing it disappears and becomes "treo 750" or something like that, with an exclamation mark next to it denoting the absence of proper drivers.

This is all very strange to me. Any tips?

    Thanks a lot.

    Is this http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...icecenter.mspx
installed on your Vista Box ?

I suppose that the driver is not part of Vista itself but come with the Windows Mobile Device Center

Hi, I finally figured it out. When prompted to install the drivers, I pointed the computer to the Windows directory. No idea why I had to do this, but it worked.
Thanks a lot for your help.

Hi, have downloaded driver zip file, thank you. have expanded it and see two files. I go to phone and modem in control panel and ad new modem, i tick the "dont detect my modem, i will choose from list" and then hit next. i click have disk and then navigate to the unzipped folder to find Treo-Vista32-usb-modem.INF, I click OK and no modems appear in the list in the next dialogue.
Any help would be welcomed, I have been stuffing around with this thing using a number of approaches now for about 9 hours.

This is not the way to install a driver.

Switch the treo in modem mode and then vista ask you for a driver, point the dialogue to the correct folder (the one with the two files unpacked) and you are done.

Tanx for quick response. have gone programs>modem link>connection=USB, access point name = telstra.wap (telstra.wap is setting I got from settings>my isp number setting) I then activate but nothing happens.
windows vista 32 business. Syncing works fine with either usb or bluetooth for notes, etc, mail, contacts and tasks sync to managed exchange. Sync works well.

This seem a relatively frequent problem, I never experienced it, so I can't say much.

Not shure if it is a vista problem or a treo problem, the only shure think is that if vista doesn't recognize a new device the driver is useless and can't be installed.

Try to softreset and (later) hardreset the phone to see if the problem is gone

remove usb cable, soft reset on phone, plug in usb got success as far as loading the modem. Did not get asked for modem driver location, checked modem properties, driver files modem.sys and usbser.sys, driver provider Palm, date 18/12/2006, version 2.1.0.0

activated modem link, created new dial up connection using treo modem, left all fields blank except number = telstra.wap, when attempting to dial got 692 error. Any ideas?

    1) what is the number dialed? (*99# is the right one)

    2) the treo itself goes on the web with the acces point used ?

    3) the modem gives any response if you go in the modem properties > diagnostic (or whatever is called in the english version of vista) ?
