    Hi all,

Seems like the new DST is getting all the attention now since it's in about 3 weeks or so. My question is, since I have my Treo set to use network time, do I need to bother to download the WM5 patch?

Apparently not. I asked the same question in another thread about my Sprint Treo 700p.
Many user choose the manual setting for time/date because it either doesn't play well w/apps or they want to save on the battery.
anyone else want to chime in?

You need it if you sync calendar data with Outlook. Calendar events could be displayed with the wrong dates if both the device and the pc it syncs to are updated with the appropriate patches.

Posting from the mobile site. I meant to say that there would be a problem if both the device and the PC are NOT updated.

    Right you are JGold,
I was told by MS Outlook tech support that if you received automated Windows Updates that a patch would be sent through it.
However, I would not be shocked if that doesn't happen and you need to get it manually.
    We'll see.

Anyone know if it affects the 750V? M$'s page says that non-US people only need this if travelling to the US timezones or having calendar appointments based on that timezone.

I believe this is the case.

When I went to manually install the PC patch I got a message saying it had already been installed. Since I never installed it manually I can only assume it came via automatic updating.

    Igreenberg,
So is your calendar in Outlook showing the proper time for your meetings after March 14 or are they still off by an hour?
    TIA

Hmm, I just checked. And no it's not.

Everything after March 14th is an hour ahead on both PC and Treo.

So what did I just install? Maybe I didn't do it right? Maybe it doesn't take effect until after March 14th? Maybe my Exchange hosting company still has to something on their end?

I am as confused as anyone can be on this one.
First I use network connection for my time/date settings on my Treo. All appt times beginning March 11 are correct.

In Outlook, the time for my appts are behind one hour beginning March 11 for two weeks and then revert back to the proper time.

I have not installed anything on Treo and I looked in the history of my auto updtes on Windows and nothing refers Outlook to being installed.

When I choose "check for updates" in Outlook, nothing updates. So It's my impression that nothing has been sent out automactically in the Windows update.

I've attempted to look for the munual upate on some of the links in other threads but they were confusing and I couldn't find which one I should update. (I do not sync with any exchange server.)

Anyone have the direct link to the download for Outlook 2003 for those not using an exchange server?

    TIA

    Well you're right.

    I just checked further.

Appointments from March 14th to March 31st all seem to be 1 hour ahead.

    After that everything is fine.

Okay I think I solved it.

I read in this Howard Forums thread about the need for a Outlook patch as well. I didn't install any.

    http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1113987

So I downloaded and installed the patch following the settings mentioned in the thread and now ALL of my appointments both during March 14-31 and after and correct.

Can someone tell me if I need to reapply this patch if I ever hard reset the Treo? Or is it applied similar to a firmware patch so it stays even if I reset my Treo to it's system defaults?

    Thanks.

It needs to be reapplied after a hard reset.

Lovely... Palm needs a built in over-the-air updater... I just can't imagine the average consumer who picked up a Treo 680 (the audience the 680 came out for is the 'average' not the pro-sumer) knowing to go online and get the update.

Dont know if everyone already know about this but since I just got it I thought I would let everyone know that it is available.

If you have a Palm you may want to download this patch...
