At 3GSM in Barcelona, Spain, Microsoft announced Windows Mobile 6, the newest version of their mobile phone software platform. As a strong Microsoft partner, Palm plans to offer Treo™ smartphones with Windows Mobile 6 later this year.
"Our continued collaboration with Microsoft gives our customers a powerful combination—Palm's hallmark ease of use with the power and security of Windows Mobile favored by many businesses. We look forward to integrating Microsoft's new operating system as we continue to help people around the world stay connected with Palm's unequaled mobile-computing experience." said Stephane Maes, Senior Director, Smartphones, at Palm.

Hmm. Later this year, 10 months left in the year. This could be a long time. Notice also no commitment on upgrading existing devices. Sounding like a typical Palm response.
    Main Phone: Treo 270/600/650/700w/700p/750v/Motorola Q/iPhone
    Tried but sold: Motorola Q/Nokia E61/700wx/HTC TyTN/Treo 680

I always classify myself as an optimist, but I've seen too many PPC companies take too long bringing their devices to market. So I agree with bcaslis. By here's to hoping.
