I don't mind if it ships with WM5 if Verizon and/or Palm promises that there's a upgradable path to WM6.

I talked to a Verizon Kiosk worker and he was aware of a new Treo that Verizon will soon be offering without a camera. I think he mentioned it was the 700p. I hope this is not what has stirred all the buzz about a new Treo arrival at Verizon and why would someone want to get the device W/O a camera (even as minimal as it is)?

I used to work in a sensitive environment where cameras of any kind were not allowed, this included cameraphones. Before I switched to vzn, i had t-mobile, and even a coule of years ago the sales reps looked at me like i had a **** growing out of my forehead when i ask for a phone without a camera...any phone, as long as there wasn't a camera in it. They actually had to give me a used clamshell phone because they didn't have any new without cameras :P

Just checked the testman site and the 700wx is now listed. Maybe it is being released on the 20th.

700P has been available through VZW for almost a year I think.

Engadget is reporting on it....with prices:

    http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2007/0...unch-detailed/

"$620 at retail, $450 with a one-year agreement, $400 if you relent to a second year, though an additional $100 rebate makes it all a little easier to bear."

Nevermind, I can't scroll down. Was going to write something about how I had confirmed through a VZW rep, but it's already been confirmed. Will it really be that much of a difference from the W? I had such lag when trying to run more than one thing at once.

Interesting how they're trying to phrase the RAM difference:

    700w - "128MB/60MB Storage Capacity"

    700wx - "64 MB RAM/128 MB FLASH"
  17. #137
Hmmm...they didn't even reduce the price of the 700w. That is interesting. Would anyone buy the W for the same price as the WX?

I've been waiting for this to come out, as I have a problem with my 700W synching to the pc that neither Palm or Verizon has been able to solve. The resolution was that I would wait until either new software or something else came along that might address my problem. (the Treo losing the partnership with my computer after one or two synchs post hard reset)

They even sent me a 700P, but I couldn't stand it and went back even though it means a hard reset every time I want to add a contact, calendar item or task. I'm hoping they will give me a WX, but I'm not holding my breath...

I'll wait for Rev A and better BT. Buying a 'wx' at this point, to me, would be paying $600 for only a RAM upgrade. I don't think I've ever paid that much for RAM.
