Once we're able to trade up to the 700WX, will you implement the same memory saving applications such as Oxios, & MemMaid? I probably will.

Ive switched over to the sprint 700wx from the 700w a few days ago & installed the Oxios app. It actually deducts RAM instead of restoring it. With the 700wx there isn't a memory leak. When I do a soft reset, it takes me right back to 46MB every time & doesn't budge unless I open an app. When I close all programs,it goes right back to 46MB. Memory definitely won't be a concern with the 700wx. I went through a whole year using the 700w & trust me,its like night & day in terms of memory.

Yeah, I never bothered to mess with Oxios after I went to the wx. And I rarely close apps. I never worry about memory issues anymore.

Are we still hoping for 1/29 or does anyone have any updated info?

I was reading some other forums earlier and there was a post that says the treo 700wx has not been released yet and won't be cause there are some issues with the software and battery. Then i got to thinking how can that be I understand they are two different roms but hey how hard could it be to switch software from one rom to another,, then I really started to think and i'll post this on some other forums as well. What IF the problem is that they cant get the new wm6 to work with the treo. Think about it, its timely release a year after the treo was first launched what better way to capture some more customer then to not only give us a better device with more memory but also upgrade the software. How cool would this be.

Any word on how much $$ is Verizon going to hold us hostage for to upgrade to a version of the phone with an acceptable amount of RAM?

I would think full retail price unless you qualify for NE2 than it would be $100 off of list $$$.

I would just prefer to upgrade some software and keep using my 700w, it is working great, I actually have no complaints. I would just like to have the Threaded SMS built in, as opposed to installing it. It works well but I sometimes have a message leave. Also from what I heard the WX doesn't have the issue with memory leaks, well thats just software. I guess if it came down to it, I have been saving my NE2 for a new PDA phone, but is the WX going to be enough of a move to justify the money?

I'm keeping my 700w until something "revolutionary" comes out. (Not the iPhone.) The 700wx is a step up, but not a big enough step for me to pay $500+ for.

I'm also looking forward to seeing what competition to the iPhone brews up. I think there's an exciting new breed of phones on the horizon if the iPhone is a success.

from what I can see on the LG 8 (whatever the rest of the numbers are), there are going to be some new pda-type phones release that are going to be great. Although, I give it 1.5 maybe 2 years before we start seeing "great" and revolutionary phones.

I would love to see palm step-up and knock a device out the park... that would be great.

If you have a plan that is more than $59.99 you can get the NE2 every year.

That is not what I've experienced with VZW....it's every 24 months.

I got a e-mail a few months back and it is on the myaccounts website about the upgrade eligibility every year. I think it was to start on 01/01/07

The new policy is (according to the mailer they hid in your bill)...

Voice plan less than $79.99/month - $50 off every 2 years
Voice plan $79.99/month or more - $100 off every 2 years

You can, however, but a new phone for the "promotional" price once per year should you so desire, regardless of your voice plan.

I'll use most of the same apps I'm using now except...

    1. Add a few apps that I used on my XV6600 and struggle to use on my 700w due to the lack of memory.
    Wisbar Advance 2
    Websphere Everywhere Access
    WebSphere Everyplace Connection Manager
    Sametime Connect

    2. Reduce use of some of the memory reclaiming apps

from what I was told it is 79.99 single line and 89.99 share plan (only main line qualifies).

If they haven't fixed BT Voice Dialing, what's the point?
I won't buy another Palm 700? unless the BT Voice Dialing feature is added, fixed, whatever.
