    hi there...searched but came up empty...

    Why does the red phone button always take you back to the today screen? When I want to turn the screen off, I want to leave it where it was (like in PIE)but it always goes back to the today screen, at which point I can then turn it off. What have I missed?

    Palm added this to be more "phone-like," where any other phone the END key goes back to the main screen.

    I don't agree with it, but that's what they did. This is the first Palm device to do this, so they definitely did it on purpose.

    That's gotta be a configured setting. Try changing this reg value from 1 to 0 and see if it changes it back. I would try it but I don't have my 750 yet. :-P

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\OEM\WakeupKeySetting]
    "WakeupKeySetting"=dword:00000001

    Note, I have no idea what this will do, it just looked like it could be related.

    This was in a Treocentral interview somewhere that was how Vodaphone wanted it. It also gave the tip that you can press option-red button to get the old behavior (it kinda does, it locks the screen and then about two seconds later turns off).

    Having the red phone button take you to the today screen has been default WM behavior for years.

    I guess the Treo 750 does not have a power button like the HTC devices?

    I guess I knew this, but I didn't give much thought to the implications of it.

    Incorrect

    End button always turned screen off only.

    The default for Treo has been to turn the screen off. But on other WM devices it took you back to the today screen. There was a mention in I think the Treocentral CES coverage that Vodaphone wanted the 750 to work the same way so Palm did.

    Pressing the Option button (button below the "A" key") and the red button at the same time will bring you back to where you were if the phone is off, and it will also turn off the screen and enable keygaurd if the phone is on.
    This does work, I use that function all the time.

    yeah it does work, but I should be able to turn off the screen with one press and one hand hopefully someone can figure out how
