Some details about how you got one already would be nice.

Yes, details on how you got it. What's the row of icons below the name entry field on the today screen? What's the icon row above the search field on the today screen?

The rear picture with the cover removed shows it as being just a 750 no letter afterwards.

Hmmmmmmm two things.....Glad to see the phone out there, but why does it have no signal???? and I notice it is on U which I imagine is UMTS? Also I was expecting bluetooth 2.0 not 1.2

It has a signal, there is 1 bar lit, as evident by the dot below the antenae icon. On the Cingular network, if there is no signal, the Cingular work on the phone would say "Searching..." or "No Signal" which is what my Cingular 3125 does sometimes when I go into elevators.

The Bluetooth 1.2 is a Microsoft and Treo thing. I remember one of the Treo 750v press videos where the Palm guy said it was due to a Microsoft issue, and they kept BT 1.2 on it.

Typical Palm excuses on bluetooth. The 8525 (and HTC TyTN) have bluetooth 2.0. To be honest, I'd rather have more compatibility than bluetooth 2.0. But the point is that Palm can't do a proper bluetooth implementation to save their lives and blame it on anyone but themselves.

FYI, it's going to show a U whether it's UMTS or HSDPA. The U or G is for the network type, not the data transfer protocal being used. Other WM5 that have HSDPA also show a U even though HSPDA is being used.

Why post pics of a phone that is due out any day and then tell us you can't give us any info? Are you doing it just to brag that you have one of the first ones? WHO CARES!

Dude that's the nature of the internet - especially forums like this. I actually found the pics helpful. From them, I can see some of the today plug-ins that Palm and Cingular have implemented.

Aside from that it just gives further proof that the device does exist.

Although I find this statement very suspicious considering that the 8525 has HSDPA and the 750 only has UMTS.

Why does the SIM card have a 3G logo on it? Do I need a new SIM card to take advantage of that? Or can I simply use my old SIM?

My understanding is if you already have a newer 64mb sim from Cingular, you should be ok. My friend has a 64mb sim that he inserted into his new Blackjack and he picks up 3G just fine.
