A few weeks ago, someone has posted about a hidden Verizon Data plan that seems to be too good to be true.

It was posted here http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/543107-post44.html and here http://discussion.treocentral.com/sh...d.php?t=129876 .
Some are able to get it (though not such an easy task as it may sound) and some are not as successful.

So I would like to try and compile some info to find out what are the cases to be made eligible and not legible for this PDATP Plan.

It will probably help us all if we can compile some info about this to see how we can help each other on this issue.

If you have been APPROVED of the PDATP Plan please post the answers to the following questions below.

Please start your reply with: Approved with the PDATP Plan and:
    • When did you get approved?
    • Where are you located as per your Verizon contract?
    • Do you have a Regular (Non-Business/Corporate) or Corporate account?
    • Do you have a FamilyShare Plan?
    • Other info you would like to share.

      If possible please add:
    • Email or Contact Info of your Verizon Wireless CSR.

If you have NOT been APPROVED of the PDATP Plan please post the answers to the following questions:

Please start your reply with: Denied the PDATP Plan and:
    • What did the Verizon CSR tell you why you cannot have this plan?
    • Where are you located as per your Verizon contract?
    • Do you have a Regular (Non-Business/Corporate) or Corporate account?
    • Do you have a FamilyShare Plan?
    • Other info you would like to share.

    ___________________________________________________

Please note that we are still trying to figure out the full details of this plan!
Posted below are just info that we have compiled.
Post will be updated as more details are found.

Compiled Info about Verizon's PDATP Plan
    What is the PDATP Plan?
The PDATP Plan is a special bundle that includes the following:
    $20 monthly access charge
    Unlimited1 monthly kilobyte
    800 monthly TXT Message allowance
    $.10 per message after allowance
    100 monthly PIX-FLIX allowance
    $.25 per PIX-FLIX after allowance

1: Please note what Verizon really means by their wording of "Unlimited" according to their TOS here: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/s...Id=4&catId=448
What is the promo code for this plan?
    Promo code is PDATP.
It shows as UNL PDA 800 TXT 100 on your Verizon's MyAccount page.
It also shows as UNL PDA 800 TXT 100 PIX $20 in your Verizon's Paper Bill.

How do you get the PDATP Plan?
    • Call Verizon Customer Service: (800) 922-0204 or *611 on your VZ Mobile Phone.
(Try to do something while you are making this call (ie: read a book, watch TV, Chase your kitten) as it may take a while)
    • Input your 10 digit VerizonWireless Mobile Number. (ie: XXX-XXX-XXXX)
    • Press 4 for "Other Options"
    • Press 4 again for "Information on Plans & Promotions"
    • Talk to Verizon CSR about the PDATP Plan. 2, 3
(Mention that its the Plan with PDATP code.)
(Mention its the Unlimited PDA Data, 800TXT, 100PIX Plan
(PDATP "maybe" classified as a "text messaging option" plan, NOT a data plan, so it may help to mention this when speaking to your CSR)
    • Be put on hold a few times so Verizon CSR can get authorization from their managers.
    • Finally be asked if you "REALLY" want the PDATP Plan in your account.
    • You may then be told that you will receive credit for switching plans.
    • Be asked by Verizon CSR if you need any more help.
    • Finally hang up and jump for joy for saving an extra $25.99/mth ($623.76/2yrs) and it only took you 30-60 mins of your precious time!

2 - "Simply giving the CSR the plan code PDATP may not get you the plan. Give the plan code PDATP and then give the description immediately. They should be able to find it"

3 - "Plans with VZW are regional, and the PDATP plan is in the system but not on the current promo list distributed to some CSR's"

Are there specific Verizon CSR(s) that may be able to help us with this?
A poster has stated the following Verizon CSR was able to help them at their location:
CSR Name/ Extension # / Location of Customer
    Arnessa / 3930 / Long island, NY
    Shanta / 2305 /Westchester, NY
Will add more details as we find them.

    When does this plan expire?
There has been no info on when this plan will expire.
Latest approval date by a poster was on January 13, 2007.

What should this plan look like in my Verizon's MyAcount page?
UNL PDA 800 TXT 100 should show somewhere in your Verizon MyAccount page if you have been approved.
It should look something like this: http://discussion.treocentral.com/at...8&d=1166932327 or this http://discussion.treocentral.com/at...7&d=1166855269

What should this plan look like in my Verizon Paper Bill?
UNL PDA 800 TXT 100 PIX $20 should show somewhere in your Verizon Paper Bill if you have been approved.

It should actually show like this in your Paper Bill: http://discussion.treocentral.com/at...8&d=1167255838
    UNL PDA 800 TXT 100 PIX $20
    $20 monthly access charge
    Unlimited monthly kilobyte
    800 monthly TXT Message allowance
    $.10 per message after allowance
    100 monthly PIX-FLIX allowance
    $.25 per PIX-FLIX after allowance

Can you be in a FamilyShare Plan and have this bundle?
It has been confirmed that you CAN add this to your FamilyShare Plan.

Do you need to have a Business/Corporate Account to have this plan?
Confirmed that you do NOT need a Corporate/Business Account for this plan.

Do you need to live in a specific location in order to get this plan?
UPDATE: A poster has been told by his VZW Rep that "PDATP plan is offered in our I2K market which is from the middle of NJ and north"
Not fully confirmed yet and we are still trying to figure this out.
At the time of this post this is what we found.

Posters locations that have been APPROVED:
    Long Island, NY
    New York, NY
    Scarsdale, NY
    Queens, NY
    Boston, MA
    White Lake, MI
    Lansing, MI
    Macomb, MI
    Indianapolis, IN
    Northern NJ
    New Jersey

Posters locations that have been DENIED:
    Farmington, CT
    Baltimore, MD
    Miami, FL
    Long Island, NY
    Colorado Springs, CO
    Orange County, CA
    San Francisco, CA
    Chicago
Will add more details as we find them.

Do you need to have been signed to Verizon for a specific amount of time?
There does not seem to be a specific "Loyalty"/Sign-up time to Verizon at this time.
Will add more details as we find them.

Can you get other discounts while being in this plan?
It has been confirmed that you can still get Employee discounts from your job while in this plan.

Can you add additional TXT/PIX allowance while in this plan?
It has been posted that you will void your PDATP Plan if you want to change the TXT/PIX allowance.
You may want to ask the Verizon CSR more about this as we are not fully confirmed on this either.
Options for Additional TXT/PIX still shows in the Verizon MyAccount page however.
Will add more details as we find them.

Does the TXT/PIX include Unlimited IN TXT/PIX-FLIX?
The TXT/PIX allowance does not include UNLIMITED In messaging.
It is specificly 800 TXT and 100 PIX/FLIX for ANY wireless carriers, even if it is to another Verizon customer..

The Verizon CSR I talked too states I can't have the PDATP Plan for X reason.
    What should I do?

Already posted above most of the info we have compiled.
Only thing we can do is for you to keep on trying until we can uncover the full facts about this plan.
Posting here the response you get will be great feedback as well.

So current facts that we have uncovered are:
    • You DO NOT need a Business/Corporate Account
    • You CAN have a FamilyShare Plan.
    • You CAN add this plan to ANY PDA type device.
    • You DO get "Unlimited" Data service.
    • You DO get 800 TXT and 100 PIX-FLIX allowance.
    • The PDATP Plan is not expired to date!
(Still need info if this plan even have an expiration date.)

So if a VZW CSR states anything that contradicts the above facts, just keep on trying so you can get the savings you deserve!

I got the PDATP Plan and now my device does NOT have ANY Data Service! What should I do?
Some people have posted that this is fixed by doing the following:
    • Dial *228 on your Device
    • Press 2 for updates
    • Wait for all updates for your device to be downloaded and updated.

I guess it doesn't hurt to do this once a month to keep your device updated as well.
Will update this post once we get more info.
Other continued discussion about the PDATP Plan can be found here: http://discussion.treocentral.com/sh...d.php?t=129876

    Denied the PDATP Plan and:

    * What did the Verizon CSR tell you why you cannot have this plan?
On multiple calls the stories ranged from "I can't find that plan" to "this is an old plan that no longer exists" to "no such plan ever has existed". Updated: New excuse - "this plan is a promotion only available for employees of certain employers".
Update 12/27/06: "PDATP plan is offered in our I2K market which is from the middle of NJ and north" - Note: I trust this VZW source more than the others.

    * Where are you located as per your Verizon contract?
    Maryland (Baltimore market)

    * Do you have a Regular (Non-Business/Corporate) or Corporate account?
Non-business account (although could convert to Small-Business, but after speaking with VZW business dept. would only allow for a 12% data discount)

    * Do you have a FamilyShare Plan?

    Yes, 700 minutes for $69.99.

    * Other info you would like to share.
    1/2-way through a 2-year contract as of mid-Dec 2006.

    * Where are you located as per your Verizon contract?

Yes. AMERICA'S CHOICE FAMILYSHARE PRIMARY 2100

    * Other info you would like to share.
    - My 2 year contract started at May 3rd 2006.
    - I Receive 20% discount through my company.
    - It took me 2 tries to add this feature to my account.
First try, some ***** kept denying that there's no such thing as 5 digit code at all (not PDATP, but NO 5 digit code exist either alphabetic or numeric)
Second try, I met this nice rep who got in touch with 5 million people and was able to add it to my plan. I believe she said SUPPOSEDLY this particular PDATP plan only works with corporate accounts. Even though I receive discount through my company, my account is not a corporate account. But somebody here mentioned that that's also a BS, but I wouldn't know.

i tried to edit my post to add a little more information that may be helpful but it wouldn't let me so here goes:

-I have two accounts, in one case it went smooth as butter, the other account took some pleading
-Simply giving the rep the plan code PDATP may not get you the plan. Give the plan code PDATP and then give the description immediately. They should be able to find it
-This is a TP plan according to the rep, but I don't know what TP stands for
-According to two reps you can not have a text plan on top of the PDATP plan but that does not seem to always bee the case
-Plans with VZW are regional, and the PDATP plan is in the system but not on the current promo list distributed to reps

i hope this helps some people

    TP stands for Text Pix
  12. #12
I am in Long Island, NY and have had no luck...was told there was no such plan. I am going to try again tomorrow.
  13. #13
Okay, I supposedly had this added...to begin on January 12 when my billing cycle changes over. I'm a little nervous about it, and may try to limit my data usage, *just in case*, but she told me that as of the 12th my 44.99 plan would be off and that the new UNL PDA 800 TXT 800 PIX 100 would be effective for $20. She put me on hold a few times and somehow had to manually input it, as the system kept rejecting it saying not available in my market.

FYI, I spoke to someone names Arnessa at x 3930

ETA: I called again because I am nervous about my coverage between now and the 12th. I was assured that I am on the unlimited data plan 44.99/mo until the 12th and then I will be on the PDATP plan after that. I hope this isn't too good to be true!

1st attempt: called around 12 pm as directed above, but no-go. CSR claimed my account was not qualified to add the plan.

2nd attempt: called around 610pm and the CSR did let me change the plan. She said that she is going to change my plan to 49.99 plan + 20 PDATP plan. Very excited, but I guess I have to wait til I see the bill. I'll post as directed as soon as I get some proof from verizon website. I see calling plan changed to 39.99, but don't see the PDATP yet (call was made about 30 minutes ago). Couple of questions though, as per contract (2yrs 450 min + unlimited date which I had (hopefully changed by now) I can't get rid of DATA per contract right? Let's say I did downgrade to only 450 min calling plan. Will I still have access to internet service? if so, how will I get billed? Thanks.

    As per contract stuff.
You are allowed to switch your plans anyway you want as per Verizon at any time.
You have upto 3 days prior to your billing cycle date to switch to the most advantageous features/plans for you so it will be reflected on your next bill.

    ie:
    • You do ONLY have Pay as you Go TXT/PIX.
    • 3 Days prior to your Billing cycle you checked and found you are using 200 TXT and 0 PIX.
    • That same day you are allowed to switch to a better plan/feature to save $$$ on your next bill.

Please note this is just what the Verizon CSR told me.

    As per Data Acess:
IF you are going to be connected online for any reason what so ever, it is HIGHLY suggested to have a Data Plan so you will not get a large bill per KB of use.

"They" will tell you that you CANNOT have a PDAPhone w/o a Data Plan as most people get a PDAPhone usually connect to the net, hence it is cheaper in the long run to get a Data Plan vs Pay as You Go.
The real 3 options are: 20mb Plan, Unlimited Data Plan (PDATP Plan included), and Pay as you go.

ANYONE can go without a Data Plan if they so choose to.
There have been various posters that have lived without a Data Plan because they ABSOLUTELY do NOT use the Internet or connect online.
    Repeat after me.
Absolutely do NOT use the Internet or Connect Online = OK to have NO DATA PLAN and ONLY if you DO NOT Connect at all ... EVER!
(NO Emails, No PIX/Video messaging, NO Web Browsing, NO Wireless Sync, etc.)

    Hopefully my rant made sense

    Correct.

When you have the PDATP Plan you will see the following on your Verion MyAc**** page: UNL PDA 800 TXT 100
It should show as the following in your Paper Bill: UNL PDA 800 TXT 100 PIX

Hmm, updated OP about this as I forgot to ad it earlier

Oh man I really appreciate your post and other posters for sharing this information. What I don't understand is why it really depend on CSR's. The first CSR told me she couldn't add the feature if she tried, and the second CSR who made the changes did it in 5 minutes.

BTW I'm under same ID in notebookforums lol. I just checked your sig. Thanks for the info again guys.

Good question and I this is what I stated before about CSR's in general.
(Not just Verizon CSR, I mean ANY CSR in ANY company!)

Have to realize that CSR's are just regular people that reads thru their general list of answers, found in their database, for the general questions asked to them.
Most info that are not the norm they will more than likely have to ask their supervisors for approval.
And just like the CSR's, the Managers also go thru their general knowledge base.
Most of the time, unless you get a really good CSR or a CSR w/ a good Manager, they just read the database by using the search feature of their PC.
Kinda like a monkey going thru google to find their answers.

The really good ones knows the loops and holes and may even give you extra info.

Also, I believe they are spread out also.
Meaning you may get a CSR near you 1 day and someone from India the next ...

I have argued for hours against several Palm CSR that was trying to tell me that a Treo 700w is EXACTLY the same as a Treo 700wx.

    Get what I mean?
